When I awoke, it was dark. I could see nothing in the pitch blackness, but there was some form of light coming from my left. I tried moving, but my body did not connect with my mind. I lay there on the bed, gathering my thoughts and trying to recap the events of the previous 24 hours. Why I lay there, and for how long, I do not know. The door opened from my left, and light flooded into the room. A tall figure filled the doorway. I struggled to get up to at least see who it was, but my body did not move.
"... Nnn..." I mumbled as my weak muscles relaxed back on the mattress.
The person came over to me quickly.
"Hey, hey! Calm down!"
I wished I could see the person's face. I felt a warm hand fall on mine. "Kyoori-a... It's me, Luhan. Your brother."
Still, I stared. I could not even remember the idea of having a brother.
One thing, though, made me think twice. His eyes, soft brown, like chocolate moose. They shone even without any light.
I stared deeply into them, and saw something on the other side. A little boy, mother, father, brother, sister, all walking together. The scenes changed quickly ; now, I saw the same little boy, in a house. The house was covered in crackling flames, flaring up in the sky. He was crying. I could almost hear him wailing and sobbing. The same older brother came and rescued him, carrying him out of the house. But no mother, father or sister came out with him. Then the brother left the little boy, all by himself on the side of the road, and went back inside the burning house. I could hear him, crying out to his brother to be careful.
I was so transformed by this vision. I felt like I was there, so much so that I myself started crying. I cried for the little boy, for his brother, but more importantly, because I felt like I had experienced that event myself.
The brother was carrying out a person, the sister. But I could not see her face. Then the realization hit me.
"Luhan!" I cried and grabbed him in a tight hug. Automatically, he wrapped his arms around me. "Help... Help me... Luhan... I need help..."

Talking. I heard talking in the house. Somewhere. Coming from somewhere.
Suddenly, I sat bolt upright. My head pounded. My hands and feet tingled. My arms and legs ached. I felt ill and wanted to cry out in pain, but my senses where telling me to keep quiet.
Somewhere in the house, Luhan was talking on the phone. Something was wrong. His voice wavered, his heartbeat, irregular. How did I know this? It felt as if I were connected to him by an invisible link.
Footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Kyoori-a?" Luhan called. "You up yet?"
The door opened and Luhan popped his head in.
"Mmm." I replied.
He stared for a moment, before saying, "An emergency has come up-we're leaving home for a while, so pack a bag. Just one. And move quickly!"
'Emergency? What could it be?' I wondered as I threw a few clothes and a toothbrush into a backpack. We would need something to eat, so, grabbing my bag, I headed down to the deserted kitchen.
I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going. In fact, I was actually gazing outside at a kitten playing with a puppy by the side of the road. I bumped into someone (or something).
"Sorry!" The person who I bumped into and I said at the same time. I looked up. I didn't know this person.
"You are... who?" I asked quietly. I didn't if I were talking to the reincarnation of a saint or the devil, so it was best if I stayed polite, lest the person's wrath where inflicted on me.
"Tao. You?"
"Kyoori."
Awkward silence. I giggled. He chuckled. He was cute, I suppose. I couldn't say much about him (he was a regular person), other than the color of his hair, a reddish brown color, clearly not natural.
Tao was about to say something when Luhan interrupted our conversation. "Oh, I see you've met Tao."
"Mm."
"That's good. He's coming with us on our trip, excursion, voyage, whatever you want to call it."
I nodded.
"I'll be outside getting car ready. Get anything you want, and please move quickly!" Luhan called as he disappeared around the corner. A few moments later and I heard the front door open and slam shut.
I looked back at Tim, Tam, Toe-I couldn't remember his name. Tao, that's it!
"Ano... What district are you from?"
"Seoul. Outer wall."
"Wow, that's far from here! I've heard that there is a lot of celestial activity there. Is that true?"
"Yep. More than you would imagine. I mean, like, meteorites and comets are always flying around. It's pretty crazy."
Seoul was the largest and most populous district in the People's Republic of Southern Korea, otherwise known as Korea. Though republic by name, it was run like a communist state, and was led by a dictator-like ruler, a certain Mr. Kim Hyun Chu.
Currently, my brother and I lived in Chulan, another district, on the outskirts of a large industrial city in the heart of the district. Tao must have traveled a minimum of twelve hours to finally reach our home, had he come straight from his hometown.
After I grabbed a few essentials, I headed out the door and towards the car. For a moment, I stared back at my home, wondering if I would ever return to see it again.
"C'mon, Kyoori-a!" Luhan called from inside his truck. "Or else we'll leave you behind!"
Sighing, I opened the heavy black door and clambered inside.
"We're off!"
Let us hope that the journey that awaits us is a smooth ride.
