One Weird Night

Simón, Pedro, Michel and Matteo all sat together in the living room of the mansion having a horror movie night. Ámbar and Luna were in the kitchen talking to Monica in the meantime.

The girls didn't want to interrupt the guys hanging out and they weren't really looking forward to watching horror movies anyway. They ignored the guys' shouting at the tv.

But the shouting quickly turned into shouting at each other. More specifically, they were shouting at Simón, Luna didn't know what was going on but she just figured that Simón turned off the tv just at the part where it got really scary. He always did that whenever they were having these kind of nights.

They'd fight about it for quite some time and it either ended up in Luna winning and finishing the movie or Simón winning and convincing her to do something else.

After what seemed like forever, the arguing stopped and instead, the girls heard someone screaming. Both Ámbar and Luna jumped up and ran to the living room, worried about their guys.

When they walked into the living room and they saw all the guys looking out the window, looking really scared.

"What's going on?" Luna was the first to ask.

"Someone was at the window." Pedro answered, pointing to the window, not even taking his eyes of off it.

At this, both Luna and Ámbar started laughing. "I think you should stop watching those scare movies." Ámbar said after sobering up a bit. She was surprised how easy these guys would get scared.

"Those movies really are getting to you." Luna commented. "We're not in a horror movie, guys."

"This is serious, there was someone right outside." Pedro insisted. Luna couldn't stop a few more laughs from escaping.

"Come on, guys, there's no way that would happen. This mansion is very secure." Ámbar pitched in.

"We're serious, there really was someone at the window." Matteo added, looking very serious and a little scared. He tried to hide it as much as possible, he really didn't want to look weak in front of the girl he's in love with.

Luna's smile dropped. She was getting scared as well but she didn't want to believe it. "I'm sure it was just an illusion. There's no way someone would get on the property." Luna tried to reassure everyone.

"Yeah, everything's fine. Don't worry guys." Ámbar tried to hide the tremble in her hands. What if it's Sharon, she thought? She would definitely be capable of doing that.

"Are you okay?" Simón asked Ámbar softly, she didn't realize he was standing right next to her.

"I'm fine, I'm sure it was nothing. I'm not scared at all." She crossed her arms to hide their trembling. This move didn't go past Simón and he answered: "Don't worry, okay, I'm here, we'll be fine. We'll find out what happened."

He slowly raised his hand and put an arm around her waist in a side hug. He squeezed her shoulder in reassurance. His gesture calmed her down a little. She was grateful she didn't need to say anything to him to know that she needed this. She leaned into him as an answer.

"It's okay to admit you're scared. I was too. There's nothing wrong with that. We're all scared so you don't have to act brave." Simón whispered so no one could hear. He knew she didn't want anyone to see her be vulnerable. It's amazing how he could read her so well. It made her fall for him a little more.

Simón smiled once he saw there was a small smile growing on her lips. He was glad he succeeded in making her feel better. He pulled her a little closer, not caring what the others were thinking but they were too pre-occupied with current events to notice what was going on between them and that was fine by either of them.

Everyone was quiet and Matteo felt like speaking up at this moment: "I didn't get scared at all. I never get scared, even with horror movies but I'm sure it's fine."

He was looking at Luna while saying all of this. He saw that she got spooked because of all this and he had the urge to go up to her and give her a reassuring hug but he fought against his instinct. She probably wouldn't welcome the gesture. But he indulged in the fantasy anyway, the one where she hugged him back and sought comfort in him and found it.

Those days were over but he couldn't help but dream that it would happen again but for now, all he had was this act of bravery. Although a reassuring hug from her would have been more than welcome.

She seemed to ignore his statement though, she was too busy staring at the window someone was standing in a few minutes ago. He tried to distract her and he said the first thing that came to mind: "Michel was another story though, I think he practically peed his pants because of how scared he was. He was the most freaked out of all of us."

Michel turned to him when he heard his name. Frowning at his statement and tried to argue with him but Luna stopped him right before saying anything. "Don't be scared, Michel, my dad will be on it in just a minute." Luna put a hand on Michel's shoulder in a reassuring gesture.

Michel didn't dare to say a word because of this, he liked having her attention like this and he smiled at her. Appreciating what she's doing at the moment.

Matteo couldn't ignore the pang of jealousy he felt while he looked at them. This was not how he hoped it would turn out. He wanted to turn things around and have her look at him, just for a moment.

"Well, I was actually a little scared. That person just came out of nowhere." he looked at Luna for her reaction.

Luna just rolled her eyes playfully at him: "I'm sure the big brave chico fresa wasn't scared at all. Isn't that what you said just two minutes ago?" she didn't hide the small smile appearing on her lips. He really was a bad liar.

"But I was lying, I really got scared for a minute there." he tried again. He knew he had to stop but he said it before he could think about it.

Luna then walked to him and put a hand in one of his. "I believe you, chico fresa. You were acting brave because you are the chico fresa after all but we'll find out what happened and it'll all be alright in the end."

He didn't want to let go of her hand, her warmth felt nice and she didn't seem to want to let go either so he didn't try to make a big deal out of it.

"Maybe it's better if we all go to bed now. It's already late and it was an exhausting night for us all." Luna suggested.

"Do you really think it's a good idea to go to sleep now? We still don't know if someone is out there." Pedro said.

"Pedro is right, guys, I can't sleep now. I've seen too many scary things tonight." Simón said, standing near Ámbar but not touching her anymore.

"What if you all of you guys slept in the same room for the night? Maybe that'll make you feel better." Monica came into the room now. "I could get blankets, pillows and mattresses."

"I think that's a good idea, we'll have a sleepover." Luna answered, excited at the prospect of this.

After getting everything set up, they all changed into their night clothes and got ready for a night, sleeping in the living room. They all fell asleep pretty quickly, most of them were restless. Luna and Matteo slept next to each other, each having their own sleeping bag. But without realizing, they got closer to one another and held each other in their sleep, seeking comfort in each other.

Ámbar and Simón were lying not too far from them and Simón noticed Ámbar was still spooked and realized she still needed some comfort so he got closer to her and wrapped his arms around her with her back lying to his chest and she was grateful for him being there for her without asking. He really did know her better than she thought and she fell asleep smiling.

And this is how they spent the rest of the night, forgetting tonight's incident for the moment and being happy where they are.
