3rd person POV

The whole castle was preparing for inevitable outcome. The battle was here. It's time to fight. Voldemort and his followers were at their door. There's no going back right now. After midnight they'll know their fates. A whole world might end. Leaving them in place worse than the hell itself. Or a new life might begin. A life without a war.

New Hogwarts Headmistress and Kingsley Shacklebolt were still giving out orders for the start. Seventeen years olds who refused to leave the school they called home could be seen in all corners. Headmistress McGonagall took group of students in Gryffindor Tower. Professor Flitwick in Ravenclaw one. And Professor Sprout in Astronomy Tower.

Fred, George, Y/n and Lee already had strategy for guarding secret passageways. Fred and George split up from Lee and Y/n to take a look outside of Astronomy Tower. They could see the members of Order amplifying protection spells around the castle. As well as the Death Eaters gathering on the hill outside Hogwarts grounds. Midnight was nearing quicker than anybody liked.

It all looked so brutal to Fred. Hogwarts was his second home for seven years. It was the only place some of the students felt at home. And now it was threatened to be crushed to dust. War is cruel thing, Fred reminded himself, it doesn't discriminate who or what it takes.

Fred was terrified of what's going to come. Not for himself, no. He has and always will put his family and their safety above everything. Yes, he teased Ron restlessly from a young age, even exaggerated sometimes. But he would kill any Death Eater if they dared to harm Ron. He always bothered Percy, called him many names and was furious with him when he left. But he never hated him. Percy was still, liked Fred that or not, his brother. Even if Fred tried he couldn't get himself to hate him.

And he started a lot of fights with Ginny when they were younger. Purely for the fun of it. And the way she would always get red in the face from all the shouting at him was very entertaining, if he dare say. But it is known Fred would do anything for his little sister. Die, kill, anything to keep her safe. He also looked up to Bill and Charlie. He wanted to be as cool as them, even cooler if he was being honest. He was thankful for everything him mum and dad had done for him.

"You okay, Freddie?" George asked, still looking ahead of him.

"Yeah." Fred merely whispered.

"Me too." George nudged Fred. The two shared small smile and chuckled.

"Georgie?"

"Yeah?"

"I need you do something for me."

"Anything, Freddie." George turned to face his twin fully.

"If I don't make it..."

"Okay, stop with it right now." George ordered. "You will make it. All of us will."

"No one can know that. Please just hear me out." Fred pressed with pleading eyes. George didn't want to listen. Didn't want to think of possibility of losing his twin brother. His best friend. His partner in crime. But he nodded and let Fred talk. "If- if –something happens to me, tell Y/n to look in left pocket of my trousers. There's something for her in it."

"You still haven't given it to her?"

"No, I didn't. All of this interrupted me. There wasn't time to. But, please make sure she finds it. There's also a letter for her in drawer of nightstand on my side. In Muriel's house. Tell her to read it." Fred eyes brimmed with silver. There was no time for tears right now. "And do me a favor. Make sure she's happy." He whispered so quietly George almost missed it.
