Coincidentally, my parents were going to a business trip that Thursday. Now that that problem is crossed out, next in line is how the hell am I supposed to survive this party.
Adam is going to pick me up at 6 and bring me home by.. Whatever time it'll be. So here I am, in my usual over-sized t-shirt and baggy jeans, waiting by my doorstep for Adam to pick me up.
The sound of an engine entered my senses as it neared by and I rose from my seating position to the gates and opened it slightly for me to slip out. After making sure it was locked, I turned to face Adam who was sitting on his bike which, I have to admit looks awesome, maybe slightly better than my baby.
Oh who am I kidding, nothing's more beautiful than my baby. "So, are you going to get on some time soon or are we going to have to go through the 'No way in hell am I going to mount that deathtrap' phase?" He tried mocking me with a high pitched voice. I scoffed at him and grabbed the helmet he offered me before slipping it on.
I discarded the taunt and mounted the bike behind him without hesitation.
"Should we get going?" I let a tone that I've never used as Casey seep into my words and I could see the spark of surprise and curiosity in his eyes as he looked at me over his shoulder but before he could pry any further, I averted my gaze to the road before us.
"You might want to hold on, sweetheart." He told me as his foot kicked the stand and turned the engine back on. When I didn't move, he chuckled once more before looking back and grabbed my hand, guiding it to circle his waist. I let him have his fun for a while.
The minute he took them off and started to speed up, I took my hands off his waist and held on to his shoulder blades instead. The last waist I circled my hands around was my gramps' when I was 10 and I surely wouldn't give this annoying little prick that privilege.
When we arrived, the party was on full blast and it was packed to the brim. A guy and a girl was making out on the steps so when we finally made our way off the bike and towards the entrance, we had no choice but to interfere with their make out session.
Adam grabbed the back of the guys' shirt, forcing them apart and when the guy whipped his head towards Adam, his glare wore off and a huge grin broke into his face. Adam mirrored his expression before doing that guy handshake my brother taught me all those years ago.
I turned to the girl who was gaping at me. Before I could identify her properly, she launched herself on me and hugged me like her life depended on it. "Case!" She squealed and I can't help but grin at the voice.
"Monic, what are you doing here?" I exclaimed. She giggled and seemed sheepish before gesturing to the guy beside Adam which was looking at the scene before him unfold like it was some movie. My cousin has changed so much since the last time I saw her that I barely recognized her.
"So, you know each other?" Adam's friend asked.
"And you are?" I questioned him sassily as I narrowed my eyes into slit.
"I'm her boyfriend." He answered.
"I'm her older sister." I snapped back, not liking the fact that he's dating Monic. She's too young for this shit.
"Older cousin," Monic corrected.
"It's the same thing!" I argued.
Monic shook her head and waved off my argument. "Anyways, who's this guy?" Monic pointed to Adam.
"He's my best friend since diapers. Monic, Adam. Adam, Monic." Her boyfriend introduced them and suddenly the couple looked at Adam and me expectantly.
"What?" I asked my cousin.
"Well, are you together?" Monic asked me with raised eyebrows.
"Yes."
"No."
I glared at Adam. "There is no fudging way in hell that I'll be your girlfriend." Adam looked at me in a challenging way and I mirrored his look, crossing my arms.
"And why not?" Adam asked.
I took a step towards him before shoving him by the chest with my finger. "Because," shove, "you're" shove "a" shove "dollop-head" shove. "And besides you didn't ask me out." I stepped back with a shrug.
"That can be arranged," he said leisurely, strolling towards me he looked into my eyes and asked softly, "Cassandra, will you be my girlfriend?"
I faked squeal and jumped up and down before stilling and let my face grow cold and hard before answering a short, "No."
Monic and her boyfriend chuckled. "I like her." He stated.
My gaze snapped to him and I stalked towards him while he gulped, his face loosing it's color. I took a hold of his shirt before putting my face dangerously close to his.
"And you. I'm telling you now. Hurt my baby sister and your balls will be at stake. So make sure she doesn't come to me crying about how you cheated on her or played her emotions or I will kill you in your sleep. Mark my words." My voice was soft but firm so only he can hear. Then I released my grip on him and stepped back, putting a sweet smile on my face and asked him once more, "Capiche?"
He nodded frantically with wide eyes, seeming terrified of my swift change of mood before stepping closer to Monic and kissing the top of her head profusely. Monic giggled at him and shoved him away. I winked at her and smirked while she simply smiled at me.
Adam took a hold of my hand, I glared at it but he didn't seem to be letting it go anytime soon so I let him guide me through the huge house. Some people stared at me, probably because of my clothing and I ignored them like the plague and continued venturing through the crowds like an oblivious freak.
Monic and her boyfriend followed behind us as we made our way to the kitchen to get some drinks.
I was so focused on looking at the dance floor where people were practically dry humping each other that I didn't look at where I'm going until I bumped into someone and liquid splattered onto my shirt. I groaned in annoyance.
"Look at what you've done!" A voice screeched. Aw hell naw. Why does reality have to hate me so much? Looking up, I saw the girl that's well known for the saying, "Beauty in the outside and rotten in the inside".
I tried to remember to reign in my anger and annoyance when she flashed me a mixed look of outrage and disgust. I clenched my fist and hid them behind me so that she won't see them and cast a look on the floor to avoid eye contact with her so that the urge to bash her head onto the nearest wall will be tamed quicker.
When I decided to take a peek in her direction while she fell into an unusual silence, I saw her staring at Adam's hand which was still joined with mine although mine was limp and his was gripping it tight, that didn't seem to please her. She then realized Adam was there, having physical contact with me. Her expression flashed through outrage again but this time with a flirtatious edge to it.
"Oh, hey Adam." She purred lightly. I tried not to gag. Seriously, I tried. Keyword being tried there. "Hey Sonia." Adam replied flatly. They must've had an encounter in school, I mused. I wouldn't be surprised though, a new boy that's as hot as Adam? News spread like wildfire at school and Sonia's all about gossip.
Hold up, did I just called Adam hot? Hell no.The dude is an ogre. A hairy, hideous, smelly ogre who eats his own booger. Yep. That did the trick. I just lost my appetite.
She didn't seem to catch the hint because she proceeded to step closer and rub on him. Literally. This time, I can't push it down and really did gag. I glanced behind me and outstretched my hand to cover Monic's eyes from the horrible sight.
Her boyfriend seemed to try holding his laugh in. Keyword: try. He ended up guffawing on the floor while Monic looked disturbed and horrified. I'm pretty sure she's scarred for life.
In the midst of it all, a voice called out. "Sandy, is that you?"
Only one person calls me that, was all I thought as dread settled in.
What the hell is the dude doing in here.
