The explosive blond turned his head to the side only to see the sharp-toothed greenette he had recently asked out looking right back at him.

...

And he looks at her!

...

And she looks at him!

...

And he looked at her!

...

AND SHE LOOKED AT HIM!

The same question was being asked in both their minds.

"WHAT!?"

Setsuna was greeted by her close classmate Kendo when she returned from a surprisingly eventful water trip.

"Hey, that took a while."

"Sorry, but after a match like that the refreshing taste of water was something I had to bathe in," Setsuna sarcastically replied.

Her ginger-haired friend chuckled, relieved that Setsuna still kept her sense of humor. She was afraid after that landside of a defeat her classmate suffered the recommended student would've been utterly discouraged. Being the caring person she was, Kendo wanted to make sure she ended the day and asked her, "If you're not busy tomorrow, or the rest of the week, I'm free to go out for some ramen."

"Oh thanks," replied Setsuna, taking out her phone and taking note to not forget, "I'll have to get back to you on that though, I might have plans this week."

"Really? For what?"

Setsuna's body tightened up as she scrambled for an answer, "Uh, just stuff. Y'know how it is."

"Oh... ok, well get back to me when I can. There's a wonderful place I want us to try out but it's a lot better when we get reservations for it."

"Certainly!" replied Setsuna, assuring her classmate that their little get-together will happen. Once Kendo finally turned away, the greenette could finally take a deep breath, thinking to herself, 'Not sure if I'm ready to tell others about my arranged meeting with the bombastic student who I just went against. They might think I have a kink for getting my butt kicked.'

She felt her face strangely getting a little heat from thinking about it.

A low growl left Katsuki as he just got off his very annoying phone call with his parents.

"That old bastard, he actually called mom," grumbled Katsuki, making his way back to his class. The entire way he heartlessly abused the poor ground by making each step have a bit of a kick behind it, "Never calling him for shit ever again!"

His mood wasn't improving at all from returning to his classmate. Jirou was passed out on the ground, red face and steam blowing out her ears like the engine in her head had a meltdown. Sero was chuckling to himself, annoying Kaminari by refusing to let him in on this insanely hilarious joke he was holding onto.

Just what he needs, more annoying shenanigans from people he saw as extras.

Even worse, the only alternative he had to conversing with these groups of fodder is watching Izuku's fight.

'So many annoying people around,' Katsuki thought, scoffing that he was going to spend so many months around these people that were beneath his skill level, 'Why am I even!? Fuck everyone here, I hate them all!"

Right then Kirishima walked up to his aggressive friend to greet him, "Hey Katsuki."

"Sup," instantly replied Katsuki.

"How are you doing?"

"Meh."

"So the usual," chuckled Kirishima, rubbing the back of his head, "I'm not surprised. You were utterly dominant in that match, no wonder you're not even winded, this was nothing but another hurdle for you right?"

The blond crossed his arm, mumbling, "It wasn't nothing. My opponents weren't weak, they actually had an adequate plan, I was just better."

"No way, you're giving props to someone!? They must've been really good then!"

"Fuck you!"

"But it's so unlike you! I'm used to you just yelling about how everyone sucks and exploding things when people disagree."

"I was never that bad! Besides, I can't spend all my time repeating the same shit over and over again. Everyone already knows I'm indubitably on track to being the greatest anyways."

"That's reasonable enough. Here I thought you might've developed feelings-"

"For who!?" preemptively exclaimed Katsuki, taking Kirishima by surprise, "No one that's who! Don't care for any of y'all!..."

...

It took a moment before Kirishima replied, "...I was about to say developed feelings of humbleness. Why-"

"It's nothing!" the blond interrupted, a small pink fuzz appeared on his cheek. He turned away to hide it, directing his attention to the screen, "Jeez, I'm trying to watch a match here! Can you keep your mouth shut for that?"

"...uh... ok," Kirishima said, looking flabbergasted. He never expected Katsuki to be invested in watching Izuku's match, not like anything interesting could possibly happen in this match.

Mauling over his outburst, Katsuki wondered what was wrong with him, 'The fuck was that? Why did I bother reacting that way? He doesn't know about the bet with Sero yet so there's no way he could reference it even as a joke. Why does it matter anyway if he did? It was a stupid bet that I obliged by because... fuck you that's why. I don't care about that lizard bitch, I barely know her. That's why it was so easy for me to ask her out. She probably feels the sam-'

And that's when it happened.

The two's eyes met and they had absolutely no idea what to do next about it. It was similar to two pacifist shoppers seeing the last of an item on sale. Both had an interest in the product and didn't want to take their eyes off of it, but neither felt like fighting to the death over it. So now they just stand there like cowards because neither wants to take a swing at the other.

Neither knew what to do or say, they were yards apart with people littered in that distance. If they speak, others will certainly hear. If they walk over to the other to converse someone will certainly notice and it'll be a bigger situation than either of them wants. Worst of all, if she keeps staring at each other like deer in headlights, someone will take that as them giving the other thy eye. They could just look away but then the curiosity of wondering why the other was looking at them won't be answered, and they were curious despite the high murder rate it had for cats.

Something had to arrive to break this stalemate.

Or maybe.... It was destiny that these two will spend eternity locking eyes.

"Oh my god, what's that black stuff coming out of Midoriya!"

Katsuki immediately snapped his head back to the screen, "Excuse me, WHAT!?"

Maybe not.
