Chapter 9★★★Change of Plans

A few hours later we were back at my house with Sadie and her mother sitting in my living room. We had wrapped Sadie in a soft fuzzy blanket after and an apparent abundance of food spread before her. She wasn't eating much of anything and would flinch if anyone came to close to her. She kept staring at me with an odd intensity. Mattias was pacing around the glamoured kitchen whispering on the phone to one of the Fae council members, telling them of what happened tonight between Sadie, Danny, and I. Our trip to Montana had been postponed for at least the next two days but that was fine since it was Saturday tomorrow. A police officer who was secretly Fae had come for Danny and was holding him in a special cell where he was held in a type of suspended animation until the council decided on what they wanted to do with him.

I was unsure of how to feel. That someone other than Sadie knew my secret. That Sadie with what little she could do tried to make sure Mattias protected me from Danny. Or that she and I seemed to be friends (for now anyway). I felt bad a little bit that maybe Danny being a crazy person was because I had never really noticed his existence until now. But I was worried how all this would effect Sadie once we left. She may not realize it until later but she doesn't really have anyone but her mom to care about her. Her boyfriend (probably soon to be ex-boyfriend) was two-timing her for her friend Jenna. She would have no one to help her through this ordeal. Her mom couldn't know the whole story without serious repercussions on us all. Just then Mattias returned from the kitchen with a grim but unsure look about him. He waved his hand and used his glamour so Sadie's mom couldn't hear us for a few minutes so he let us know what was going on.

"So, the council has made a decision about Sadie, and I must admit it is surprising. But they felt under the circumstances it would be a positive thing more than a negative one." He said before turning and kneeling before Sadie, "Sadie...we know you know about Rowan secret. Which more than likely means you figured out there are more than just her correct?" She slightly nodded her head with wide eyes.

"Are you...like her too?" She whispered to him before looking at her mom.

"Yes, I am. Though I am different from Rowan. I have different talents. But that's not important at the moment. Sadie, we have our own branch of government and at first, they were not happy about this situation at all but showed Rowan leniency because of the oddness about this. But after what happened to you on behalf/because of Rowan.. they wish to offer you a gift. Now be warned, it has been well over a thousand years since a human like you has been offered such a gift and it ended badly because they chose to abuse it. They hope you will prove wiser." He paused letting it all sink in for her. After a minute she nodded as if letting him know she was ready for him to continue.

"The Council, as we call them, have offered you a place of sanctuary like they have offered Rowan. It is a place for creatures like Rowan and me to be who we are without fear of being plucked up by the human government and experimented on. It is a high school for mythical creatures and they would like for you to attend. You would be the first human to be able to attend or even be able to see the school. It is an honor we hope you accept. It will be an experiment of sorts. If you can meet and accept all of whom you meet at this school perhaps someday other humans can as well. But the choice is up to you." He said with a slight smile and a small pat on the hand. "Why don't you and you're mother discuss some of this with us tomorrow over lunch okay? Go and sleep on it tonight. Oh-" He pulled out a small pink liquid filled test tube looking vial and handed it to Sadie after wrapping it in a silk handkerchief. "-Drink this before you go to sleep. It will let you sleep peacefully without having any nightmares over this traumatic event tonight. Tomorrow I can tell your mother more about what happened tonight and what you two have to decide for you at lunch. Okay?" Mattias said with a sad sympathetic smile before removing the glamour from Sandra.

"Mom, I'm tired. Can we come back tomorrow?" Sadie said after hiding the vial in her backpack. Her mother hugged her gently not wanting to disturb the bandages the hospital they had taken Sadie to had put on her.

"Of course, Baby. Eira and I were talking earlier about us coming back for lunch tomorrow anyway." She said with a smile before helping Sadie off the couch. They said their good-nights and headed home. Without saying a word to my mom or Mattias I went up to my room and went to bed before any more craziness happened.
