Then.
April 1998.
''What do you mean by that, Draco?'' Her voice riddled in panic, horror-stricken almost, ''What are you even talking about?''
His spine faced her. He held onto that sink for dear life as he tilted his chin up, ignoring her reflection in the mirror. Draco couldn't possibly look at her, ''You know what it means. I need you to go.''
''Go where?'' She shouted. Her high voice dragged through the room, ''Where am I supposed to go, Draco? What are you—''
''You stupid fucking witch,'' Draco snapped, turning around and aiming right at her. He dragged her arms in his hands as he shook her. Hoping that some sense would fall into her by that, ''What the hell do you think it means? I need you to take your fucking friends, and I need all of you to leave. Get out of this bloody school before you go down with it.''
''No. I don't care what you say,'' Navy whined, her hands aiming to pry him away, ''This makes you a hypocrite. You're a hypocrite for protecting me by putting yourself in harm's way.''
Draco inhaled sharply as he stood moored and jammed on his feet. He didn't budge.
''I can't just leave!'' She breathed, panic scored through her pulsating veins, ''My family! They have to take part in this. My mother isn't abandoning this war, Draco. And who would I be if I let her stand there with no one when they come—''
He was glaring at her now. Pain crowded his dark irises, ''I don't care what your family stands for. I don't care what you stand for. You are not going to here while this fucking castle burns. I said I'd protect you from it, and I will.''
Navy frowned, shaking her head, ''Only if you come with us. I'm not leaving without you.''
''I said that I don't care what your family stands for, White. But I can't ignore my own. I have to take part in this. You know I do.'' His voice was harsh, his grip on her tensed, ''Nott and your brother have agreed to take you and Pansy to safety. I'll join you when I can.''
''No—''
He kissed her. He pressed his lips so hard against hers. Shutting her and all the complaints she was about to spill up. He kissed her for moments, moving his mouth so roughly with hers.
''For once in your damn life, just listen to me.'' He said, lowly now, ''I can't have you here. Not when the fucking war is starting. You'll listen to me, and you'll leave.''
She didn't want to. Navy didn't want to listen. She didn't want to leave him behind for the war to destroy him. She couldn't have it. She didn't accept it.
She'd rather fall with him than stand without him.
''Please—'' She begged quietly, tears began to prickle in her eyes, ''Please don't do this to me.''
He bent back, standing tall in front of her again as his sight flickered to above her, giving a rapid nod to whoever stood behind her.
Navy tried to turn around, her palms pushing into his chest. He snatched her wrists, holding her solid against him, ''Don't,'' He said, ''I'll be there soon. I promise.''
Then she felt the tip of a wand pressing against the back of her neck, and everything went dark.
Now.
