Immediately after the meeting, Girida send a telegram to the soldiers headed for Nevada about the update. They were told to capture Mick Holler alive and get him out of their before the strike hit.
After that we had an hour to ourselves before it was time to leave.
Amberley, Sara and I went to my hotel room to change into our uniforms. It was exactly like the black Runners uniforms, except these ones were camouflaged. They also came with cool helmets and a built-in parachute and oxygen mask. And of course, a gas mask.
Then it was time to go. Kelso, Sara and I loaded onto one of the helicopters. Amberley had been ordered to stay at Washington Fortress. The D.C rebels had attacked the trucks at the Reagan airport again and they were sending out a fleet to assist them.
"Goodbye!" Amberley yelled over the chopping of the helicopter blades. She stood below on the cement floor of the garage.
Even though it pained us, we all yelled goodbye back to her. We all were thinking the unsaid. We may never see Amberley, or each other again. But that's what war was. The constant fear that you would die any second of the day.
Then the pilot instructed Kelso to close the door. And then we were off, into the infected air of D.C. Off to destroy Mick Holler.
