VIVI

"Kids! Sino ang mas mahal niyo? Ako o si kuya Vivi ninyo?"

I almost couldn't hide my silly smile as I watch how my friend, Theresa, lures the children to her side like some sort of play and has to win no matter what to the villain who unfortunately happens to be me. She has a bag of candies on her hand, rattling it to the kids as a way of getting their votes on her instead of I. But from what I can see, despite their naturally weak resistance to sweets, the children are trying their best to resist the temptation that is present before them which is quite unexpected to their gullible nature.

They can't give up now, they are so close!

"Oh! Almost~!" I cheered when I saw how close they were to touching it. My face was beaming the entire time. I really want them to pick Theresa!

Pero sana pala, tinikom ko nalang ang bibig ko.

To our surprise, all of them stopped reaching for the bag of candy as if a spell has been worn off and turned their heads towards me when they heard my voice. Their eyes sparkled in glam.

Oh, no...

"KUYA VIVI!" they all shouted in unison and ran to my direction. I could feel the invisible tears leaving my eyes. Damn it, they were so close!

"Ano ba yan! Ang lapit na, e!" rinig ko rin ang nagtatampong boses ni Theresa mula sa aming harapan.

I just let out a small yet awkward giggle when the children went for a hug around my thighs. Seriously! They never get tired of it to the point that it amuses me!

"Kids, baka nakakalimutan niyo, ha? Ako ang adviser niyo! Ako! Ako ang nagpapakahirap magturo sa inyo tapos isang kita niyo lang kay Vivi, kinalimutan niyo na agad ako? Asaan ang hustisya?!" maktol ni Theresa nang makalapit sa amin. I scratched my head and gave an apologetic smile.

Even though I know she's merely joking, I can't help but feel shy whenever we reach this situation as the narrative never changes. I don't want Theresa to feel less important about herself because of these kids' blind admiration for me. Based on my experience, they are extremely brutal with their remarks, and despite always having Theresa handle this type of situation in a mature approach, who knows it's already starting to take a toll on her mind rather destructively? Ayokong dumating sa puntong ganun, noh! Ilang beses ko na rin pinagsabihin ang mga batang 'to pero parang walang nagbabago.

Whatever, I'm sure the kids still love her as much as—

"Go away, teacher Theresa! You're nothing compared to kuya Vivi! You're not even as half as pretty as he is! Kuya Vivi is literally a fairy!" my eyes immediately widen from what Sebastian has blurted out.
