𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞
(this is the only chapter you'll read in first person narrative.)
I was kid when I started looking up to heroes and understanding what they did. My parents said that they saved people, it was in the name after all, but that wasn't what I admired at the time. I was amazed by the fact that they could use their varied abilities at full capacity against the evil because that's what little kids like, what I liked. They were big and powerful and I want to be just like them when I grew up but that also meant I had a favorite. It was true that I wasn't any different from the other kids as of I admired the most powerful person in all of Japan; the great All Might with a quirk made for saving people and defeating villains, but I felt as if it were a different kind of admiration. Yet, I was still just a child and everyone feels as if they were special in some kind of way. The toxic belief that they were different from the others.
As I grew, my admiration for him never faded. It grew with me and I learned more and more about what he does, which was pretty much the same; saving people with the quirk he was gifted from birth and bringing justice to everyone around Japan, insuring them their safety, and having a smile on his face while doing so. My want to become a hero like him only grew when I found out that being a hero was an actual job and that the payment was a hefty amount. I remember saying that I would be able to buy the biggest house and have a whole collection of his merchandise and my parents encouraged me with a smile on their faces. It was probably the best time of my life other then the day I had gotten my quirk.
But the older I got, the more I learned about heroism and there were a lot of things that I didn't know beforehand and an example would be how the villains always had the upper hand in battle. How that was the main reason Heroes die on the job. I mean, knew that dying was a huge possibility but it wasn't for the reason I had originally thought of. The death of a hero is always caused by a villains doing but it's not mainly because of their evil ways but it's because of Heroes stubbornness. Heroism is a job after all and each and every hero is a celebrity of some sort, which meant that they were popular and well known and that leads to having to keep up a good reputation. So what exactly does make a villain have the upper hand? There are two answers to that.
The first one is that they are mysterious and their quirks are unknown while heroes, well, every piece of information from blood type to favorite foods is known by everyone and if not, all the answers you need is behind a click of a button. This makes the Villain have the advantage, work their way around their quirk, but what ties the knot for a heroes death, is how heroes see villains as the bad guy in a video game that if killed, you get their XP but in real life situations, once the villain is captured, your rank as a hero rises or falls depending on how powerful they were. That leads us to answer two. A heroes death also prevails when they jump they jump in the fight without a plan and only thinking about how their next encounter will boost the popularity polls without acknowledging their opponent. The combination of the two, the mystery of a villain and the obstinacy of a hero, is a certain loss.
And that was when something inside of me sparked a little. I wanted to know more about everyone's favorite hero. What was his favorite place to go? where was he born? Does he have a social media? Now, although I was old enough to have a phone, I was also supposed to keep up with the payments but after breaking my third one, I thought that a phone was a waste of money and stuck with my laptop but that's besides the point. When I finally had time, I dedicated my time into learning more about All Might because of how well known of a person he is.
But no one knew anything about him.
Link after link, interview after interview, I started to have many questions and they were left unanswered because there was none to what his life was like. Every website repeated the same things the last one did. And it wasn't the fact that the repeated information was the same, no, it was the fact that the information was vague and, well, already known. They weren't describing his childhood or about his family-friends, they were reenacting what he had said in his interviews or during his battles but nothing that went into his personal life.

𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚: 𝘈His gender, hair and eye color, his occupation and other useless things that weren't in the slightest bit interesting, captured everyone's attention but mine. It was like my breath was taken away from me from the lack of information on him and it was a little irritating. How could a person so popular, be known so little? I was starting to look more into it, research other heores to see if it would be the same but I came to find out, that all of them had all sorts of things to say and that All Might was the only one that had a lot of absent data. It was... weird. It was like he was hiding something, but what exacly? Was he just trying to keep his family safe?
What about his real name? There's gotta be someone in this world who realizes this, right?
So then, I dug just a little more and that was when I came across another website. It was popular and it was something I had heard of before but never bothered with it until then. It was about Heroes, an not only the ones in Japan, but all over the world.
But I searched the one that was most important to me: All Might.
The results were satisfactory. So much so, I had forgotten all about the unknown of the man and was focused of what I was learning and that was when I periodically dropped everything and continued on with my life. I learned about his mentors, Nana Shimura and Sorahiko Torino, movies about him directed by him, how he could be easily beaten by the comic hero Superman, his declining of popularity due to the fact of leaving too quikly after a battle, ranking six out of five in all of his capabilities including speed and intelligence, and the fact that he might have American heritage. It was a lot of things that I did not know, or realize, of and as I kept reading, I was invested and visited the site a few times after that for school research or to learn more about people with similar quirks of mine.
It was... educational and my vision of becoming a hero had never once faded. I grew older, I was praised, I had allies, enemies, useless side-pieces, and needless support to reach the top. That was my goal and I sure as hell reached it. Sure, not in the way I quite expected but at least my message had gotten through. I even saved people from being wrongfully accused! So what if the middle ground changed a bit? As long as I make all my goals sucessfull, Im quite satisfied.
No matter how long they take to finish.
