"Are you sure?" Elisa asked Charlie looking upset about something."I'm sorry Elisa, I know it's what you want...I love you enough to let you go.. I promise I'll be okay." He smiled holding out his hand.
Elisa hesitantly took off the ring and handed it to him. "I'm sorry Charlie.. You've always been so sweet to me..It's not fair to you.."
"I just want you to be happy Elisa. I'd rather you spend the rest of your life with someone you're truly in love with than spend it regretting and wondering why you didn't choose them.." Charlie said smiling slightly. There was hurt in his eye, but he was also understanding..Very understanding, and sweet about everything. It was no wonder Elisa felt guilty, but he was right.
Elisa looked at her hand and took the ring off, handing it to him. She then saw Charlie walk over to someone taller than him, he didn't have a face, but she saw Charlie say something to him. The man nodded and Elisa, with tears streaming down her face, saw Charlie walk off into the dark city of New York.
Elisa was awoken by the loud alarm on her phone. She hit the 'Stop' button on it to make the annoying noise shut up. She groaned and looked at the date: Friday, July 6. 7:30am. She sprung out of bed and quickly headed to the bathroom. Today was her graduation day. She chose a nice, white button down blouse with fluffy sleeves. She did her hair in curls and her makeup a bit extra, but not over the top. She grabbed the Burgundy cap and gown she had ordered and headed downstairs where she was greeted by her family with balloons and streamers.
"Happy Graduation Jelly Bean!" her dad said hugging her. Elisa noticed a cake on the counter with her name on it.
"Cake for breakfast? I'm not 6 guys." she said looking at her parents.
"That's not until after you get your diploma." Her mom said picking up the cake and putting it in the refrigerator.
"You mean if she gets her diploma." Her dad said."I've got to go. Frankie and Jasmine are here. I'll see you all in the crowd of people?" Elisa said before grabbing a blueberry muffin from the table and heading outside to meet Frankie and Jasmine in Frankie's car.
"You ready to graduate the fuck out of this bitch?" Frankie said wearing his cap already.Elisa hopped in the car and laughed while singing along to Tame Impala blasting from the car. Frankie parked near the auditorium and the trio walked towards the building. Elisa opened the doors to see hundreds of kids.
"Holy shit. Where the fuck are we supposed to check in?" Frankie asked lowering his sunglasses scanning over the many burgundy caps and gowns in the room.
"Maybe they just count you when you get your diploma?" Elisa wondered.
"The check-in sign is over there near the backstage area." Jas said finally finding the sign.
Elisa followed her friends to the Check in area and scanned the room for Timothée, in hopes to see him. Unfortunately she couldn't find him and checked in anyways. There was a long waiting period between checking in and the actual graduation ceremony. Thankfully Elisa saw her family's car in the parking lot as the kids made their way to the football field where the ceremony would take place. As Elisa continued to look around for Timothée, the principal came up to the podium and began the basic boring long introductory speech about the same stupid school year Elisa didn't care about.
After what seemed like hours of the principal droning on, they finally began to call the students names and hand out the diplomas. Since they were announcing the students by last name in alphabetical order, Elisa knew she wouldn't have her name called for a while which meant....more waiting. Elisa tuned out most of the students getting their names called, but her head immediately picked up when she heard Timothée's beautiful name being called. Suddenly, there was purpose for all her waiting. Her eyes were fixated on him the moment he walked up on the stage. His eyes skimmed through the crowd and stopped when he saw her. He smiled and walked up to the principal and got Elisa's diploma before going up to the podium.
"There's one person I would like to hand this to personally. She's made such an impact on my life in such a short amount of time, and I want everyone who is here today to know that she does not deserve to wait for her name to be called. She is the most talented and hard working woman that I know and she deserves this more than anyone. Elisa, please come up here and get this diploma you worked so hard for." He said making direct eye contact with her the whole time.
Elisa noticed several eyes on her as he was speaking, but every head in the area turned on her the moment she stood up and slowly made her way to the stage. She stepped up to meet Timothée and he handed her the diploma smiling at her.
"Congratulations mon chéri." He said before holding her tightly and kissing her passionately. Elisa heard an obvious reaction from nearly everyone from the students to the families in the bleachers but that was the last thing on her mind. Every time Timothée kissed her she felt as if she was flying, and right now, she was on cloud nine.
As they both walk off of the stage together, Timothée holds Elisa's hand and takes her behind the Graduation Tent where students got water. He smiled at her and hugs her before picking her up and spinning her around. Elisa giggled softly and planted a kiss on Timothée's lips softly. She pulled away and smiled looking into his eyes. "I want to take you out for dinner tonight." Timothée smiled looking into her eyes. Elisa instantly got excited and nodded. "Where?" She asked "This really nice restaurant that I think you will love. It's super fancy, but worth it." He smiled at her. "I can't wait. I'll meet up with you after I see my family." Elisa said sweetly before kissing his cheek and heading back to her seat.
The actual name calling of the ceremony took longer than the beginning. Only now it didn't seem to bother Elisa as much anymore. The one thing that remained on her mind was having her first date with Timothée. She wondered if what she was wearing would be enough, or if she needed to wear something nicer. Before she knew it, she heard the High School Theme Song playing by the band and she students start to take off their caps. Frankie looked at her and smiled, gesturing for her to do the same. Elisa followed suit and removed her graduation cap and threw it in the air, watching it join hundreds of other burgundy graduation caps dance in the blue sky.
Elisa walked amongst the other graduates looking for her family. Her head turned once she heard her sisters name, and immediately ran to hug her dad who awaited her with open arms. He picked her up and hugged her tightly.
"I'm so proud of you Jelly Bean!" Elisa's dad said.
"We all are sweetie." Her mom added. hugging her after her dad let her go.
"Thanks guys. I love you." Elisa smiled.
"We love you more." Her dad replied.Elisa looked around to see her mom, and sisters eyes on her. She knew what they were wondering.
"Look, if you're wondering about what happened up there, I'm not really ready to talk about it to you all just yet." Elisa said answering all of their questions before they were freed from their lips.
"Oh, by the way... Do you think it's possible to reschedule my celebration for later tonight? I have a date tonight." She admitted looking hesitant at her parents. She earned a slight sigh from her father, but her mom looked at her and agreed. "Just be careful sweetie." She advised. Elisa nodded as she felt her phone buzz as it received a text message from Timothée.Timmy 💕: Hey let me know when you're ready to go. There's somewhere I want to take you before we go to dinner. 😉
Elisa: I'm ready when you are. Also, what's with all of the surprises? lol
Timmy 💕: I'll meet you at my car?
Elisa: See you in a bit. 😘
Okay sooo this chapter was actually split into two because it was getting too long. The next part will just be a continuation of this one.
Warning though, the next chapter will be a bit more on the mature side, but I've entered a section where you can skip it if you don't feel like reading it. That's really all for now, I'll post part 6b soon, its 3/4 of the way done, or it should be up by the time you're reading this.
See you soon
