*****TW!!! SUICIDE/ABUSE*****

Athena's POV:

I was always neglected as a child. Ever since my mother died from suicide when I was 3, my father has had trouble finding a S/O, so he resorted to alcohol. He struggled paying the bills so we had to move to a tiny 1 story house. As the only girl in the family, I was constantly working on keeping the house clean and cooking. My brothers have always treated me like shit. My oldest brother Josh, who was 19 at the time, acted like I was a slave. Whenever I wouldn't make him lunch, he would tell my dad and my dad would beat me. Kenny, my middle brother who was 17 at the time, never really talked to me because he thought I would kill myself just like my mother, and he didn't want to face the depression if I did. James, my youngest brother who was 13 at the time, was my only source of slight happiness. He wasn't as bad as the rest of my "family" but he wasn't that much better. He would do my chores a couple times a week so I could rest, and he would buy me food so I didn't have to eat the shitty leftover food that my older brothers and dad ate. Other than that, he was pretty much the same as everyone else.

My father is a pharmacist, he works 9-3. He experiments with different serums and vaccines for things like cancer. He gets home at 3:05 and sleeps until 7. He eats and then goes out drinking until the a.m.'s, then complains about how tired he is in the mornings. One day, he came home weirdly late. He was still in his lab coat and he had a very disturbing look on his face. I just figured I didn't vacuum properly or something like that. He told me and my brothers to lock all the windows and doors. "Why?" asked my oldest brother josh. "SHUT UP AND LOCK EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE OPENED!" my father exclaimed. Confused, we did as he said. I didn't want any trouble tonight as he would probably be more angry than usual. "NOBODY IS TO LEAVE THIS HOUSE TONIGHT." My dad yelled. I was not planning on winding him up even more than he already was, so I minded my own business. "One person cannot sleep tonight. They will be sitting outside, keeping watch." Said my father. "For what? But didn't you say nobody is leaving the house tonight?" I stupidly said. "Who said we wanted your opinion?" Said Josh. "Just for saying that Athena, you are the one who will be staying up tonight." Demanded my father. "What? But its supposed to snow tonight!" I said. "Then take a fucking blanket with you? Figure it out." said Josh. I stayed silent. Any more trouble, and I would get hit.

I went outside wearing the heaviest clothes with an umbrella, and 2 of the thickest blankets I could find. "Well of course, its snowing, just as thought" I whispered to myself. After an hour or so, I started getting extremely tired. My eyelids felt heavier every second. I couldn't stay awake much longer, so I went back inside to make myself a coffee. Right as I started making the coffee, I looked outside my kitchen window. I saw this extremely tall white figure in the distance. "What the fuck?" I whispered. It started getting closer, and I could see more of its features. It had eyes whiter than snow. Its jaw was structured to be permanently open. It was taller than my house. I froze in fear as it ran up to the window. We made eye contact. this... thing, it had a soul. I could see it in it's eyes. A few seconds later, my father walked into the kitchen. The creature looked at him, and ran away. "What are you doing inside? Didn't I say you will be outside tonight?" He exclaimed, slapping my face. "Father, I explain!" I said. "No. Get back outside right now or you will be sleeping outside every night." He said. I walked back outside, not getting a chance to finish making my coffee. As I stepped outside as a shiver went down my spine. "The creature" I thought to myself. I tried opening my front door, but my father locked it this time. "Shit" I said. I sat back down, thinking to myself "Does my father know about this creature? Maybe that is why he wanted me to keep watch. No, there's no way he knows about this.. he wouldn't potentially feed his own daughter to a humanoid creature... right?"
