CHAPTER ONE

IT REALLY WAS TRAGIC. Imagine being nineteen and already being in huge debt. It was not at all something Minjun wanted. In fact, it was the last thing he wanted. Nonetheless, that was the life he was living.

He was millions of won in debt. What's the cause, you may ask, well, his parents had passed away around three years ago, and he had to pay hospital bills and for their burials somehow.

Now he worked all day and night, and on top of that, he was maintaining college classes. Anatomy and biology to be exact.

It was exhausting, and he knew it would be. But studying at college could be beneficial for his future, he might get a good job and end up being able to pay off all his debts.

Minjun was lost in his thoughts until he was interrupted by a young woman waving her hand in his face. "Oh, I'm sorry. What can I get for you?" He shook his head to clear his thoughts as he turned around to the cash register.

"A bowl of Tteok-bokki, please." She pushed her short black hair behind her ear as she stealthily pulled out 10,000 won. He raised a suspicious eyebrow at that but didn't say anything and took it.

He quickly made the food and handed it to the girl, giving her any change she needed. "Enjoy." The young woman smiled tightly before walking off quickly.

He looked around the food stall, confused as to why she acted so sneakily, but he saw nothing. He looked back to where the girl walked off but no longer saw her. He shrugged and continued working.

IT HAD BEEN A FEW HOURS since Minjun had gotten off of work, and he had regrettably missed the train home, so now he was stuck on a bench in the subway.

He pulled out his wallet, looking at the contents. He had a few 10,000 won notes, but nothing more. Thankfully, he had somehow been able to earn enough to pay his rent for this month already, so that was one thing off his debt this month.

He sighed before placing his wallet back in his jacket's pocket, leaning back until his back hit the wall.

Not even a minute later, a tall man sat down next to him, a briefcase set in between them. Minjun glanced at him for a moment before he turned back to look at the train tracks.

"Sir, do you have a minute?" Minjun raised an eyebrow, looking at the man. He had a small smile on his face and his arm was resting on his briefcase. "It depends on what you want," Minjun answered truthfully.
