Warning :) "Smut."

_______________

She woke up to an unfamiliar warmth pressed against her, the rhythmic puff of breathing against the top of her head, a heavy arm on her lower back...and a firm hand cupped over her left butt cheek.

Hinata sighed, wondering how the hell he'd managed to get so close to her when she knew she'd deliberately slid a pillow between their bodies last night.

Still. She'd give him the benefit of doubt. He might be blameless in this because maybe she'd unconsciously rolled over to his side of the bed. She knew she was a heavy sleeper, too—one of the things she wished she could change about herself and sometimes hindered her ability as a shinobi.

She glanced at him and marveled at how handsome he looked when he was sleeping, when he wasn't opening his mouth to say some of the vilest things.

But then she remembered the document tucked in her bag, the promise of a raise and a recommendation, and relented. Maybe he wasn't that bad.

He was lying on his stomach, his face towards her, snoring, half his face pressed against the pillow.

Her gaze fixed on his lips, the memory of the kiss they shared in the train suddenly popping in her mind. And for some reason, Hinata felt the urge to reach over and brush at the hair over his forehead, remembering how soft and silky it felt under her fingers. What's more, she wanted to place a hand over his cheek to touch his skin.

But she did none of that. Instead, she reached for the hand on her butt and slid it off her, expecting him to wake up but he didn't. She shifted slightly and rolled away a few inches. Still, he didn't react, only continued breathing deeply.

Good. It looked like he was a deep sleeper, too.

Looking outside the window, she could tell it was around 3:00 am.

Hinata knew she wasn't going to be able to get any more sleep tonight.

Might as well make use of this time.

She started to slowly wriggle her way out of this situation. Once she was at the edge of the mattress, she quietly sat up on the bed.

Silently, Hinata slipped on her uniform and her wolf mask then walked over to the window. She lifted the curtains. A quick scan with her byakugan showed nobody watching.

A second later, she was out of the window shimmying down the drainpipe.

What Hinata really wanted to do was find Ao and slit his throat. But that would involve too many political entanglements that she didn't want to touch. Besides, she would be court-martialed for something like that. And she loved her career too much to ever jeopardize it by doing something completely stupid.

Instead, she decided to tackle another matter that came up when they'd first arrived in Kiri.

When she and the Hokage had been walking around town earlier, she'd memorized the paths they'd taken and noted places where she felt some weird energy coming. While the Hokage had let her know some details of the mission, she felt that maybe it was worth her while to explore some of the areas of Kiri on her own.

That weird energy contained a feeling she couldn't name, and during their walk, she'd made a mental note to go explore it when she got the chance. She couldn't resist indulging in her curiosity and found herself on the outskirts of town facing a really old brick building guarded by thick stone walls.

High up on a tree, Hinata's byakugan made another sweep, but she encountered a barrier that seemed to resist her seeking eyes.

Interesting. That only meant they were hiding something. She stood up, raised two fingers up to her wolf mask, gathered more chakra to intensify her range, and muttered, "Byakugan."
