Getting to Laura's room, the feeling of lust bloom in his veins. “ She is on her heat.” Klay, his wolf comments.

“ But how ? She hasn't seen her mate, unless she...” His eyes widens as realization dawn on him, not even bothered to knock; he kicks the door open.

Entering inside, he expected her to be curl on her bed, wrapping herself with a big blankets but no one was there but her scent is still strong. Heis breathing heavily, his feet wide apart as his ears perk up at the sound of soft whimpers coming from the bathroom.

Immediately, he dashes to the bathroom and his eyes darken seeing Laura naked in a white round bathtub filled with iced water. Miles could feel his stomach's bile in his mouth, gazing at the lady he is annoyed with lustfully. His wolf fights for control but he was strong to suppress his wolf.

Laura feels the air shifts with power, and aura of that of a powerful being. Instantly she knew who is in the bathroom when she sniffs the air. She sits up, taking off the cucumber off her eyes.

“ Laura,” Her name comes out harsh from his mouth. Upon hearing her name, her head snap to a furious Alpha.

She gasps slightly, quickly covering the two robust thing on her chest. Her voice betrays her, it fails to cover the surprise in her tone. “ Miles, what are you doing here ?”

He averts his eyes from the two big watermelons that her hands can't “ Why are you on heat ? Have you met your mate ?” He uses his Alpha's voice on her, not feeling a slight guilt.

Laura swallows thickly, this is the first time Miles has used his Alpha's voice on her. She sighs, “ Er...yes, I met my mate.” and admits, lowering her gaze to the water.

Those words hit his heart like a bullet shoot from a far range, he feels hurt, angry, betrayed mostly ashamed. He could not believe he was about to mark someone's mate. Slowly he drops to the floor, bringing his knees to his chest and hug himself near the almost closed door.

“ Miles...” Her voice croaks, standing up from the tub not even caring that she is naked. She makes her way to him, bending to his level and places her hand on his shoulder. “ I swear I wanted to tell you,” She starts off by saying that, “ I badly wanted to…”

He raises his head, his eyes were already red. “ Then why didn't you Laura ? Why didn't you tell me you met your mate ?”

She shifts her face away from him, twitching her lips. There was a dramatic silence before she speaks. Blinking her tears away, she turns to him back. “ Why didn't I tell you ?” She rolls her bottom lip in her mouth, trying to fight the tears but it won. Water flow from her eyes to her cheeks. “ How am I going to even tell you ? How am I going to tell you I rejected my mate ?” She inhales deeply as Miles's fo us suddenly became on her.

“ I kept my promise unlike you who don't have plan to. We promised each other that will we always be with each other not our mates. Immediately I saw my mate, my stomach flipped multiple times.” She laughed in tears while Miles just stares at her.

“ But my heart constantly reminded me that there is only one man I love and I promised to be with. I rejected him Miles, I fought against the mate bond and chose you, you Miles. I freaking chose you as the one I want to spend my life with and I do not regret it,” She sobs covering her face with her palms, Miles reaches his hands to touch but he couldn't, he purses his lips returning his hands back to his knees.

Raising her head, she exhales sharply. “ But I started regretting when you started talking about how we should wait for our mates, and consider out mates' feelings. ” She scoffs, laughing. “ So how do you want me to tell you amidst those crisis ? Yeah I call it a crisis because you made me promise that we won't leave each other for anyone especially our mates. And now, you do not have the intention of rejecting her.” She sniffs—standing up, moving away from him—she hugs herself, crying.
