Epilogue – 24 years later

Owen POV

I sit back on the lounger I’m sitting on with my sunglasses over my eyes and wonder how I have found myself here again. You would have thought that my woman would be bored of the place by now, but twenty four years later she still loves coming here. I’m not complaining though. It’s good to get away from Charleston, The Academy and everything else that goes with it. Normal life stuff but then again, we’re not normal.

I look around the area of the pool at the same hotel we stayed at when we first came to Orlando twenty four years ago. It’s not changed at all. Still has the same diving boards and lounge chairs I’m sure. It wouldn’t hurt the manager to update them just a little or for myself and my brothers to persuade our wife to go to a different hotel but she’s insistent on coming to this one because it's where it all started.

My eyes zero in on the young girl that is a spitting image of her mother, same blonde hair and green eyes. It’s a younger version of Sang all over just with much more confidence than what Sang had at that age. My eighteen year old daughter is sitting back on a lounge chair with her twin brother and some of the boys he met earlier on this morning when we arrived. The boys are clearly checking her out in her yellow bikini and I don’t like it. That’s my daughter. However, I do smile when I see my son clenching his fists on his thighs glaring at the boy with brown hair clearly checking her out. Yeah buddy, if I were you I'd be careful, I say to myself in my head.

“Owen, I know you’re glaring over at the boys.” My wife says from beside me. “Just leave it. You know Tyler will handle it if they get to be too much.”

“Not the point, Sang. She’s still our baby, our first born.” I tell her, not removing my eyes from the boy as his eyes clearly linger on my daughters assets.

“You know she’ll get mad if you interfere.” This makes me turn my head towards my wife. I know she has a point but still...it's not the point. Taylor was our first born daughter. Our baby girl.

I look at my wife and smile as she holds our ten year old son in her arms, rocking slightly from side to side as he sleeps. Finn, short for Griffin after Nathan’s last name has the same red/brown hair and blue eyes as Nate does. I remember Nate at that age. Spitting image I tell you. For a ten year old though, he tires easily because he is full of so much energy. He wakes at four in the morning, will nap at noon after lunch for two hours and then will go again until bed time at eight pm.

That two hour nap is the only time he sits still and rests. Even at the dinner table he keeps his feet moving.

“I love you.” I tell her, forgetting my daughter or the boys that are ogling her.

She smiles at me. “I love you, too.” I’ll never get tired of hearing those words.

I lift my gaze to North as he approaches us with Cole, our sixteen year old walking beside him. Yet again, Cole is short for Coleman after Gabriel’s surname. He looks like Gabriel with his blue eyes, but the blonde hair he definitely gets from his Momma. I chuckle when I notice them both glaring over at the direction I was.

“If Tyler doesn’t do something about those dipshits soon, I fucking will.” Cole also has a tongue as bad as his biological dad, even though he’s our entire son.

North pats him on the back. “Why don’t you go over and give him some back up. He’ll appreciate it.” Cole doesn’t need to be told twice. He goes off without argument and walks over to them. We all know that Tyler doesn’t need the backup, I’m sure that even our eight year old daughter Morgan would be able to beat the crap out of them. That’s the best thing about having nine dads who are eager to teach you how to defend yourself.
