I never knew today was the last day I will see this peaceful and innocent world.

"Silver!" a woman in her mid-40's shouting at the top of her lungs. As soon as the echo's reached to Silver ears, she froze instantly. From recognising the voice she bounced up like a frog from the crouching down position she was in and looked around for the sign of where the woman was.

Another sound resounded through the earth nature of plants, trees, and crop fields. "Silver! Come here!"

I ran as fast as the wind over to her trampling on the soft grass and out of forest. When I reached up to her I asked her while slightly out of breath, "What is the matter mother..?"

"Gosh! Look at you! Covered in sweat and dirt, you look like a tree trunk! How can you be so messy when you are the village Chief's daughter! Me! You disgrace the family, and you are the only one who can carry on my task!"

"yes yes," no paying any attention at all. "What do you want for me that you have to yell across two acres of field?"

"Ah! Yes, you are 20 now. Through generations our family has a tradition that we go out of the village town and visit the area outside this village. I will give you a task to do, the task is to go to other village and observe how they organise and support their own village. Please take note and report back to me. Also, the best economical village and nearest to us is near the legendary city."

As soon as she finish I quickly went inside to pack up and go, but as soon as I moved my body my mother stopped me. I was confused of why she stopped me. She continued to speak, "Not today, you are not setting of today. And is still early, I want you to attend a class first and make friends. The friends you make their will follow you on your journey." When she finished talking she smiled and walked into our wooden house. I forgot to note, only the important people can live in wooden houses. Most people live in clay houses since clay houses since they are easier to make, cheaper, and we won't damage nature's habitat. My mother does not want to live in the wooden houses but the villager's insist since my mother is a very important person in the village. Suddenly my mother head pop out and added on, "I forgot to mention, the course I applied for you is half a year long. Go every day." Well... that is my mother, forgets stuff and add on things after the subject is finished. But she never does that at work. I wonder why...

Back to the main topic, I am just wondering why I have to go to school to learn even though my mother told me to go out of town to learn. That is just too confusing. Learn to go to learn? Guess I have to listen to my mother and be a good girl, since it must be tough on her to raise me while look over the village.

After cleaning the 'tree trunk skin' off of me, I retie my long brown hair into a high pony tail and then went out to centre of the village to attend a short course at the village learning centre as my mother order me to.  Well... she did not really order me to. I guess my mother give me the best thing that is available. My mother has this favourite saying of hers, "no parents will give bad thing to their own children, even tigers won't eat their own children when they are starving."

While I was waiting outside the room for the teacher to come to allow us into the room, I saw a girl about the same age as me that shined very brightly, unlike me that only cares about plants and play in the dirt. She was standing with a beautiful posture next to the door. While I glanced at her she smiled to me, I smiled back in response. As I smiled back I remembered what my mother told me, '...make friends...' I move my leg muscles to walk up to her. However, as soon as I lift my left foot of the ground, the teacher came and guided us into the classroom.  Her wavy black hair waved into the room while she walked in. Damn, I missed my chance.

The next day we can just go into the room even if the teacher is not there. They told us to just wait inside instead of stand outside out the room. When I walked into the room I saw the girl from yesterday sitting down staring at a newspaper. I walked up to her and looked at the newspaper she was reading since I was curious. The girl looked up and said, "What are you looking at?"

"I was just looking at what you were reading." I asked curiously with a bit of fright since she said that suddenly and rudely.

"Oh!" She smiled and continued on, "I was looking to see if there is any job available for me to do."

"Right! Oh yeah, is anyone sitting here?" as I patted my hand on the chair next to the girls.

"No, but you can't sit here." She has a serious face when she said that. I felt depressed since normally people will go, 'no, no, of course you can sit next to me.' However, after a moment the girl serious expression dropped off from her face, uncovering her smiling face that was about to burst into laughter. She continued where she left off and said, "Joking, sit down."

I was shocked that it was a joke, I was thinking, 'how can people joke about stuff like this? Is not a joke, it sounds rude.' While I was having that train of thought I sat down. However, I can't control myself, I suddenly giggled.

That was how Carlour and I first met.
