Lance

I hate her.

I really do.

Because if it wasn't because of her ... I wouldn't have become a disappointment to my parents.

"Now what? Are the Turrets going to pay us back for what we spent on her daughter?"

I sometimes wonder if they knew I was listening behind closed doors, but the church was full and people were waiting. It's been an hour and the bride wasn't here.

"We can't ask them that, you know they're our friends, we need to help them find their son and daughter back!"

The Turret family had just come to announce their missing daughter and son. Daughter, who I've never met in my life, only through letters, who I think someone must've helped her to write because from my knowledge Maria didn't know how to.

"If only Matz hadn't fallen in love with that girl from the capital this wouldn't have happened ... He would have been married already to Maria."

"Matz was charming ... Lance ... not so much ... a runaway bride ... he won't recuperate from this scandal."

And of course, my mother was more worried about what people would say. The death of my brother was already enough. Because my family had a 'traitor' son when the only thing he did was fall in love with a royal girl.

My father was still enraged about the government killing my brother, deep down he knew that my brother wouldn't do something like that.

But they also agreed on the disappointment I had become.

"We were blessed with one charming boy and cursed with another."

This was the opportunity I needed. This marriage was going to prove that my family was still worthy of marrying someone with a decent last name. But now that she had run away, it only proved the rumors of my family. People are already muttering the things that they believed.

"She must have not shown up because that traitor was hanged after conspiring against the king."

"Of course, if I was part of the Turret family, I wouldn't have married my well-raised daughter with the brother of a traitor."

"What a disappointment ... they couldn't even marry into a low class family."

I had become a disappointment ...

And all because of her.

I hate her.

So it was a real blessing when I found her.

Even though she now went by the last name of 'Ackerman' it didn't matter to me. And even after learning what had happened to her ... still, it wasn't enough.

Because ... I wanted to be the one to hurt her.

To get revenge for what she did to me, leaving me on the altar, making me look like a disappointment.

To hate her.

But I couldn't.

"I am grateful to have met you Lance ... And I'm really sorry."

We were at her parent's home, the funeral had already taken place and we were just talking on the rooftop.

To be honest, the only reason I was there was that I wanted to get her trust. To make her fall in love with me and make her pay. Repay her with the same coin she gave me years ago.
