Wave Goodbye was the first of my horses to run. He fell behind early, but managed to make up the ground on Gulfstream's turn for home and nailed Seer, the top mare in England, right at the wire, winning by a neck.

In the dirt mile, Joey was the longshot at 60-1. Rum Runner and Comradical Salute, the favorites, set blistering fractions, which only aided Joey in his come-from-behind style. As they hit the stretch, Joey was up with the leaders, but Rum Runner came over and smashed into my poor Joey, sending him out 3 or 4 paths. Joey managed to come back to take second by 3 lengths behind Rum Runner. Gary immediately lodged a complaint, and Rum Runner was disqualified for bumping Joey as well as Fudgesicle early on. Joey won on the DQ. Most people were pretty mad, as Rum Runner was pretty popular.

The last race of the day was the Breeders' Cup Classic. They had to switch the places of the Distaff and Classic due to issues with the fields. Anyway, Total was utterly calm before the race, which made me nervous. He was ALWAYS hyper. Then, right before he walked to the gate, he bit me. Well, he was ok now. He always bit me before a race.

As they sprang out of the gate, Greenisforgo went to the lead. Total was in 6th, the perfect place for him. As they hit the final turn, Gary angled Total to the outside and went 3 wide around the turn. That was NOT a good move. If Total Takeover finished out of the money, he was off of my horse forever. Running down the stretch, it seemed Total would get 4th, as Middle Deck, longshot Non Newtonian, and Listen For It. Total dug in after a Gary hit him once, though, and the 4 horses raced toward the wire in tandem. Total stuck his neck out, and the other horses' heads were even with Gary's legs as they hit the wire.
Total won, Middle Deck finished second, and Listen For It was third. Non Newtonian was fourth, then it was 5 lengths back to the test of the field. 2nd through 4th place were separated by a neck.

All that was left now was my big race, the Distaff. The homecoming queen of racing, Theworldisahead, was heading to her prom.
