What a freaking nerd

What a freaking nerd.

That was Malia Tate's first thoughts about Eli Foxx anyways. Though, even now, she still thinks he's a freaking nerd. The odd ball sat on the bench at tryouts, camera clicking in his hands, sweater vest looking scratchy, red in the face, seeming perfectly content. She didn't know why he thought what she said was funny, though he didn't find it funny, he just thought she was pretty.

And he'd tell her that sooner or later, in capital letters, as he'd put it.

Eli never was a people person. He had a pretty bad case of anxiety, social events and crowds of people only ever making it worse. He didn't mind much though, there weren't many people in Beacon Hills that would ever understand or accept who he was. Then he met Liam and Mason, and for the first time, actually felt like he had friends that didn't mind that he wasn't always interested in video games or girls, though he get smiled at by Lydia Martin freshman year and told Mason and Liam about it all the time.

Eli was the type of person that would get fascinated with the moon at night, especially full moons or pitch black skies. He'd celebrate anytime anyone from his study group would get higher then an F, always with a hug and a congratulations. Giving off a stalker vibe with that weird camera, even though he was actually just on yearbook comity. Spending most his life without friends, he found his own friendships within the pages of old books that he didn't understand in many ways, much like he did when trying to read old poetry with complex handwriting. He was just a little different, a little odd, completely unexpected and out of the blue.

While Malia seemed to always end up with those types of guys, still didn't stop her from thinking he was a weirdo.

Being a year young then she was, just a sophomore still, the last thing she expected was to start passing her classes after taking up Eli's advice on joining his study group. And she did, not at first of course, but eventually, she would. Not only because she really needed to pass her math test, but because maybe Eli wasn't so bad. Still weird, but she wasn't necessarily normal either.

Eli just thought Malia was really pretty, and it wasn't a surprise he'd became smitten the second he saw her, because guys like that fall in love with everyone. That was his flaw, the thing he hated most. He'd had a crush on everyone that spared him even the slightest bit of attention, just a smile would have his heart beating fast and giving him a full on anxiety attack. Most of the time, those obsessive crushes, only ever lasted a few weeks before reality set in and Eli would realize that a smile was just a friendly way of saying hello, not a full on marriage proposal.

Yet, what he felt for Malia immediately, didn't go away after a few weeks. Even after being involved in the supernatural world, after his best friend gets bitten by a alpha, and he'd have to protect not only him, but the group of juniors that shared their deepest secret with him.
