It was pouring that night. If I hadn't had to work overtime, I might have been able to get home earlier and avoid this unexpected weather.
Today had been particularly tiring: loads of work, short deadlines, annoying colleagues...
I let out a sigh.
"I chose this job, there's no point in complaining now."
Before I knew it, I had almost reached my bus stop. The blue sign that I have become accustomed to seeing every day stood proudly a few feet away. I waited patiently for the light to turn green then crossed the empty thoroughfare.
Maybe it was my imagination, but the streets were rather deserted tonight. A car here and there, a few pedestrians... Quite strange for a usually busy city.
However, I didn't pay it much care. After all, it's raining cats and dogs, no wonder no one is out, especially at this time of the day.
