Sitting at the corner of my bed, mind drifting away into the stars next to the dim light of the moon, I wondered what would be next. Every time i think about it, my eyes water up. Everything was falling apart. There was no escape to this prison. I was trapped inside my own house. The definition to all this was simple: Im a Girl. Some people question my existence. Some want revenge. Some want love. Most of them want my throat slit up and fed to the goats cause I cant keep my mouth shut. Why was I specifically chosen to be a girl? Why couldn't I just be a guy?Three knocks on the door and I was up. Fear shot through my veins as i walked up to the door. I twisted the knob to find my mom staring at me with spaghetti and meatballs. My personal favourite. She smiled, handed me the tray and left. This was my life every second of every minute of every day. Staying in my room, getting fake smiled at and getting sympathy thrown to my feet. I ate my spaghetti and layed down on my fur pillow waiting for sleep to overtake me. I started wondering why I was here, what my purpose was and what would I do now. The answers to these questions always seemed lost. Answers that didn't want to be found. As my mind starting drafting pictures of unicorns and rainbows being slashed through, my lashes stoned up and fell upon my eyes.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I walked to my washroom and got all cleaned up. Walking back to my room I grabbed some cheerios and coffee and took them with me. Eating was the most favourite part of my day, it helped me relax and with that I started my day which meant sitting in my room and doing nothing. Walking around in the room I found a week old magazine which said one direction were finally coming to Dubai. I got up and felt excitement surging through my body. I ran downstairs to my dad in hope of getting permission cause I was sure it was a week already and the tickets must've been out.
"DAD! DAD! LISTEN"
"Yes, what is it?"
"One Directions coming next year and you know how much I love them, can I please, please go to their concert? Dad please?"
*looks blankly at the parsley hes chopping*
"DAD?!"
"What?"
"Im asking you something. Can you please make an effort and listen to me for once?"
"Listen Aura, I don't care how much you love them. The truth is that you can't go. It's not possible."
"But dad.."
"Girls can't go out by themselves. What will people say? I can't take you there either. I have better work to do. Now leave so I can finish my work"
"Why do you care what people say? Why can't you just care about me? My feelings?"
*Dad continues chopping, ignoring me at expert level*
Tears dwell up in my eyes as I run towards my room. How could they do this to me? Its all because of that day. I know it is. The day that changed my life forever. I still remember it.
I was running and running and running and they were following me. My legs were bruised and hands purple. I could taste blood in my mouth and definitely a bump on my head. I didn't know where to go, who to turn to. I turned back and saw the angry looking people following me. They had bats in their hands and were getting closer and closer and closer. I found an old abandoned truck and hid behind it. Their shadows overwhelming me, I covered my mouth as I knew I would scream 'cause of all the pain.
