play sarah by alex gthe journey towards the inn was agonising to say the least. little to no words were exchanged between the three of you as you progressed further away from the city and closer to the grassy plains.
silent because, if you were to speak you knew that you'd immediately lash out on childe, and your words would move faster than your thoughts and you would certainly end up saying something you'd regret later on.
"you are worth so much more than you believe."
was the sentence constantly replaying in your head since reuniting with the harbinger, you were starting to wonder if he ever even meant it. you stare at him almost as though he is a stranger, but he has never felt less like one to you since your departure from snezhanya. his cool blue eyes glow under the moonlight as he gazes up into the sky, he is undeniably beautiful, even you could admit that, as much as you claim to hate everything about him. he looked content, and you wondered what he was thinking about. was he thinking the same thing as you? you'd probably never know.
so incredibly difficult to read.
the late night moonlight was cascading down upon the three of you as you were lost In your thoughts, your shadowy figures visible on the ground below you as you strode forward towards your destination.
as awkward as the journey was, it was fairly peaceful.

sometime between now and then the three of you arrived at the overbearingly large structure known as the wangshu inn late into the night.
the yellow tinted dēnglóng lanterns hanging from the ceiling reflected onto your seemingly exhausted appearance as you stepped up the mahogany stairs and entered into the main check-in office alongside the two men beside you.
"two rooms please." exclaimed the ginger man next to you whilst pulling out his horsetail coin pouch from his left pant pocket.
"oh and one for me as well" you mentioned whilst pulling out your own coin pouch and placing the exact amount of mora needed onto the cedar desk before you. you wondered why zhongli wasn't paying for himself but figured childe was probably doing him a favour or something of the sort.
the woman at the counter replied with a smile and handed you all a key with your assigned room numbers plastered onto them in gold ink. your gaze dropped to childes key
fuck.
by some insanely unlucky coincidence, your rooms were right next to eachother. "that's just great." you whispered to yourself whilst exiting the office and stepping up the planked staircase towards the guest rooms. the archons were not on your side today apparently.
"you know that the two rooms were intended for all three of us, right?" muttered the ginger that had somehow, snuck behind you unnoticed.
"i don't care about what you intended childe, i'd never share a bed with you." distaste clearly present in your voice as you glared at the man indecently close behind you.
"but you already have? don't act like it never happened printessa."
a shudder travelled throughout your body as you turned your head slowly towards childe at the mention of the wretched title.
"if you know what's good for you you will never call me that again." you replied whilst inserting the key in your hands into your assigned room lock and entering. slamming the door shut behind you.
you let out the scorched breath you didn't realise you were holding in as you leaned your tensed body back onto the closed door. how did he manage to become even more infuriating than he already was in the span of under five years?
he knows exactly how to get under your skin. and you absolutely hate it.
stepping away from the door, you placed your belongings onto the simple cedar desk in the back corner of the room, and hung your bow onto a hook just above the surface. you stepped towards the large bed in the centre of the room, flopping into it and relaxing immediately into the pale quilted sheets.
