Jane’s pov

“Ruby Jane.” The professor called out my name during the morning lecture.

“Congratulations to Miss Jane for getting the most impressive scores for this project.” He continued in his high pitch voice while adjusting his cat eyed shaped glasses. He is wearing a matching brown knitted sweater and a beret with his mood exceptionally on a cloud nine today rather than his usual snarky temper.

A round of applause filled the lecture hall while I stood up and walked to the podium to get my paper back.

The remaining 10 minutes of the class were just the professor ranting about how everyone should take the next assignment seriously.

“Send my regards to your dad, Miss Jane.” The professor said to me before leaving the class which I replied with a nod and a smile.

The professor and a few of lecturers here showed quite huge admiration towards my dad which I assumed because of my dad’s reputation in the business industry or maybe his generous enormous fund towards our faculty.  I suppose it could be either of that or both for which I couldn’t care less.

Apparently if your family is of influential or big names kind, you are worth the hype and attention. I certainly hope that my grades and scores in college are at least earned by my own effort. I do take my studies seriously despite everything.

“You must be proud that your father is Mr Russell Kim.” They said.

“We are so honoured to have Mr Russell’s daughter here.” They said.

“What it’s like to have Mr Russell as your father?” They asked.

I guess it’s the perks of using his black card to throw a birthday party at the most expensive club tonight. I invited some of my friends and my whole classmates to the party. My family’s secretary told me I could spend however I want tonight. My parents are out of the country for the time being; my stepbrother and my stepsister are certainly would be too busy with works anyway; so that’s mean the youngest daughter gotta do what she knows best which is to spend the family’s fortune away.

I’m getting my own car I told the secretary too. I’m finally turning 21 so that would be my main gift; it’s the car I meant.

“I love your outfit.” Lily complimented when I finally arrived at my own party at the club.

It’s the limited edition two piece Chanel mini dress that I bought last time. I smiled back to her as reply. I clearly made some extra effort to look chic for my party tonight. My hair is pulled up in a sleek high ponytail; my winged eyeliner and red lips perfected the chic look I’m going for tonight.

I got swarmed up by birthday wishes and greetings as soon as I arrived.

“Happy birthday Jane, you look amazing.”

“Happiest birthday Jane, thanks for inviting us.”

“You look so pretty Jane, happy birthday!”

The secretary booked the whole second floor of the club for my party; there’s DJ playing some ear blaring music and there’s free booze around for my party attendees. I guess she knows what a good party comprised of despite her uptight personality.

We danced along to some of the catchy music background and drank some champagne. Somi and Lily seemed like they were half intoxicated already as Somi stepped up on the table strutting some of her moves while Lily and the crowds hyping her up.
