Memories

I came home to find Mia sitting on my couch with a large smile. Her natural blond hair was now fiery red, making her skin appear lighter and her freckles more apparent. She jumped at me and wrapped her arms around my neck and gave me a light kiss on the lips.

"I'm so happy you're home dear." She said innocently.

I snorted, and though I was a little irritated, I couldn't help but laugh.

"Are you having an affair?" I questioned her with a serious tone.

"It's not what you think." She said with innocence and then looked to the floor. "I have yet to sleep with him."

"I was hoping you did."

"What? Why?"

"Because I have."

"What!" She yelled and pushed me away. "I was only gone for a year and you already got laid?" She was actually upset.

"You found yourself a new fiance so what's the problem?"

"That doesn't matter, I never slept with him. How could you do this to me?" She glared.

"Sorry, but I couldn't take it anymore, I needed relief."

"You could have just bought something to play with to please yourself. Even though I knew you were gay I still thought you loved me."

"I do but..."

"Not as a lover, I know but still, what the hell." She groaned and turned from me.

"Does it really bother you?"

"It does."

"Why?"

"Who wouldn't be bothered when they find out that their fiance slept with someone else. You were faithful since we were kids, you always did everything I asked and did everything I told you to, just to make me happy." She took a deep breath then continued to ramble. "I never worried about you seeing someone else because I knew you loved me. You could never do anything like that, there is no way you could have slept with someone else there's just no..." She trailed off.

She whipped around and I gave her a wide smile, enjoying the shocked state she was in.

"I'm sorry for doubting you dear, I should have known better." She came closer again and closed her eyes with her face pointing up, obviously waiting for a kiss.

I ruffled her hair and gave her a kiss on her forehead.

"We can't do this anymore, your wedding is tomorrow."

She frowned but then smiled sweetly. "I know."

That evening Mia and I talked about the past and all the memories we shared. We spoke as if we hadn't talked in years. Even though it was mostly good memories, Mia cried in my arms. She cried over all of the fun times, cried because she was so in love with her new fiance, and cried because she knew we wouldn't be as close anymore.

She began to apologize saying that she betrayed me for making me put up with her and then running off. I don't know how many times she repeated it but she pretty much cried through the whole thing.

"I'm sorry, I've just been talking the whole time." She said after what felt like hours of her snotting all over my shirt.

"So can I say something now?"

She pulled herself back and cleared her throat.

"Of course"

"I'm gay"

"I know." she said simply.

"You think that you betrayed me yet I am the one who betrayed you. I knew I was gay and I knew that I had no desire to get physical with you." I sighed heavily and continued. "To be honest, I was going to force myself to act as a real husband and do my best to take care of your sexual needs. I'm an ass for even thinking about making you basically live a fake marriage. I'm so sorry Mia."

"I love you." She hugged me tightly and kissed me again but held her lips there longer than anytime before. "That was our last kiss." she smiled then collapsed in my lap and gently fell asleep.

After placing Mia in her bed I decided to do something that I had never done before, nor would I have ever thought about doing; finding a lover for the night.
