INTRODUCTION (LATER)

POV: Lance

AHHHOOOOOOH!

I let out a sound so guttural and deep that it reverberated off the walls of the cafeteria. I somehow managed to scare myself. I sniffed around to see horrified high schoolers staring back at me with wide eye gazes as I interrupted their dancing and gossiping. It was the school dance and all I could do was scan around the crowd looking for the weakest one to be my prey.

My rented tux began to split seam by seam as my biceps grew to be too big to be held back.

I had to get out of here before the full moon rose completely.

Blood pulsed through me, a small ringing in my ear became louder and louder.

My vision became sharper, brighter- that's when I saw her.

AHHHOOOOOH!

All I could think about was her. My spine cracked into itself one bone at a time. The beast inside didn't want out, it wanted to become me, merge with me. I was nothing more than a vessel now. I got a whiff of her perfume and saw her blonde head bob up and down in the crowd. I needed to be closer to her.

I felt the last bone click in place as adrenaline flooded my system. I began to chase after through the crowd, my legs uncontrollable.

My body wasn't my own anymore, but his.

CHAPTER 1: Beginnings (EARLIER)

POV Luna

I knock on the front door. No answer. Typical.

I love Tucker, but he's always so annoying whenever I try to come over. Usually, it's because he's in the upstairs bathroom taking a shit or whatever. I take a look at the mansion in front of me. You wouldn't think there could be estates this big in Salem, Massachusetts, but I guess there can be.

Sometimes I forget that Tucker's family is loaded. He doesn't act stuck up or anything. But if you based what you thought his personality should be on the size of his house, you would think that he would be a Grade A asshole. Fortunately, all of his bad genes were sent to his brother.

I peek in the window and am met with two dazzling green eyes looking out toward me. I would know those eyes anywhere-

"Tucker!"

The door opens and I'm engulfed in a messy hug, limbs tangling together as I hug my best friend.

"Luna," I felt his voice in the hug. I let go.

"It's so good to see you!"

I didn't want to admit it to myself but I missed Tucker so much. He was only gone for two weeks for his family trip to Greece this summer. I hated to admit how much he truly means to me.

"Luna, I missed you so much."

I took a step back to take it all in. He looked normal to me but something about him seemed off, I couldn't quite explain it. It's almost as if his tousled hair isn't as shiny as usual, more rugged. His unnaturally pumped biceps looked a little bit thicker, more sculpted.

"What happened to you?"

A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead.

"Oh you know just the usual glow from the sun," he answered. "Please step in the foyer, it's so toasty out."

I stepped inside and was instantly hit with the dramatic cold air being pumped in from the air conditioning unit.

"Here let me help." Tucker grabbed his jacket from around his shoulders and put it around me. As he did so, his hand brushed my skin, it was piping hot.

"Tucker- you're so hot."

His ears turned scarlet red. That's not what I meant.

"Temperature, I mean. Just temperature." my cheeks blushed.

"Just uh, worked out. Body heat is higher."

Something seemed off. His face fell as he said it. I knew he was lying, I just didn't know why.

"Come on, let's go to the living room," Tucker replied.

I followed him into the giant landscape of his house to the place where we always hung out in an attempt to hold onto our normal routine, but this time, I couldn't tell what it was. Something felt different.

I didn't want to admit it to myself, but I felt like my best friend was hiding something.
