Taxi Projects and Rodents

Mae POV
We were almost at the projects when Joanna leaned over to my ear.
"When the taxi stops, I want you and Darren to run as fast as you can to the projects. Run to the last one on the right. Don't look back. Don't stop fro nothing." The taxi came to a stop. "Go now." Me and Darren bolted out of the car and went strait for the project. but I disobeyed and just turned the corner and hid behind a tree. Darren did the same. Then we eavesdropped.
"Um ma'am. That'll be $267,000."
"Well the thing about that is..." Then Joanna bolted out of the taxi but since she didn't know left from right, she went to the left.
"HEY YOU OWE ME MONEY! DO YOU WANT ME TO JUST PUT IT ON YOUR TAB?! My ex was right, I should've been the popcorn guy." Then the taxi drove off.
"Phew that was a close one Mae... Mae?" I heard Darren but I was too busy looking at Joanna being attacked by a big family of rodents. There was a mixture of all animals. There was even a bunny skunk. I'm pretty sure scientist haven't seen that yet. "Earth to Mae!"
"Darren! We have to save Joanna!"
Darren POV
I've been trying to get Mae's attention for five minutes. I was about to pinch her to make sure she didn't die. But then "Darren! We have to save Joanna!" Next thing you know she's attacking all these rodents that were trying to eat Joanna. I meant to help, but I was too stunned at the sight. 5 minutes later, Mae killed all the rodents and is scraped up. Joanna was perfectly fine though. Joanna looked so sad. Then she reached out for Mae But then Mae ripped off a piece of clothing off her ankle and wrapped it around her wrist were the wound was. Then they got up and walked over to me.
"Ok what just happened?!"
"I just saved Joanna's life. Thanks a lot for the help!" Mae said sarcastically.
"Sorry I was stunned!"
"So was I but I still went!"
"It's not my fault!"
"Whatever lets just be happy we're not all dead."
"Ya now let's go to the project."
Then they walked to the project avoiding the bonfires and poor people.
