When they had adjusted their eyes to the glare, Fay and Nea were back at the Phial's hiding place.

"Before we make a move, I wanna check to make sure the container isn't rigged." Nea examined the entire room. "No booby traps." she said with a smile, "Now let's grab the crystal and get back before Doldred."

"Um, How?" Fay asked.

"Oh. I hadn't thought of that." Nea looked around the room, "hmmm, see any worm-holes in here?"

"Nope. But there's a book over there, in the corner." Fay pointed to a small leather book wedged in the stone wall.

"A spellbook!" Nea gasped. "That'll work!"

Meanwhile, in the palace the others were standing at attention, ready to fight. Nothing had come to attack them and it had been quite a while.

"Do you think he'll even show up?" Virago grumbled.

"Well, he could be convincing other creatures to join him."

"Like the goblins!" Virago hissed, as a mob of goblins charged over the horizon. "I hate those things."

"Well, at least the prince is overseas," Erwin said, trying to hold back the ugly creatures. "I don't see Doldred among these goblins, perhaps he's letting them do the dirty work, then he'll come in for the kill."

Erwin tripped three goblins at once, and Virago provided those creatures with a demonstration on the sharpness of her sword.

Caspian's eyes widened, "You said the prince is overseas?"

"Yes," Erwin replied, confused. "He is returning this afternoon, why?"

A goblin rushed toward Erwin, Caspian shot it down with his bow.

"Well Doldred isn't here-or at least he doesn't seem to be. And if he's not here, and the prince is overseas-"

"Doldred is heading straight for the heir! We gotta stop him!" Virago shouted.

Just then, Fay and Nea returned with the Phial. Virago and Caspian both tried to explain their new plan, but Erwin ended up being the one who translated it into a language they could understand.

"We think Doldred is heading to the capital because the heir to the throne, Prince Alexander, is there. We need to go to at least warn the prince before it is too late."

So they rushed to the capital, and soon were standing in the market square. The prince and his entourage would be arriving soon. There was no sign of Doldred.

Suddenly trumpets blared, and the gates were thrown open. A royal carriage escorted by dozens of knights on horseback crossed the bridge and promenaded down the main street. People from all over were leaning out of windows and waving handkerchiefs, and crowding around with cheers. But can you blame them? They hadn't seen their prince for 13 years, after all. But when the prince was halfway to the castle door, the procession stopped. A tornado and a roar of thunder took over the sky as Doldred materialized in front of the convoy, and it came to a complete halt. The horses were spooked and knights were thrown off their horses.
"Ah, here is the kingdom's precious prince and heir. Greetings..." Doldred cackled.
