–YOU AND ME AT CHRISTMAS.
"stevie!" belle simons practically melted at the sight of the weissman girl. she'd worried endlessly over the fact the two were being so distant, but the familiarity of seeing her at the doorstep warmed her heart."hey belle" she smiled wholeheartedly, feeling some of the pressure lifted right off of her shoulders in the presence of the boys wonderful mother. "is tommy—tom home?"
"yeah, he's in his office—it's where the garage used to be" she informed her before gesturing to her left.
"thank you" she nodded, looking around the house that seemed practically the same. she walked carefully through the somewhat familiar home, taking note of all the things that had changed from the place she once knew.
it felt brighter, mainly due to the fresh layer of paint on the walls and the new wooden floorboards replacing the plain beige carpet that once paved the foyers.
the change made her smile, she liked it.
she eventually arrived at the garage door—which was now an office door—standing anxiously by the door frame, watching the blonde chuckle and type frantically.
"fuck you ranboo!" she jumped, not realising the boy was on the phone. then it hit her, he was a streamer after all—what if he was live?
she turned her back to the boy, maybe it'd be best to come back another time.
"stevie?" she heard tommy ask quietly.
"um—hi?" she mentally cursed, turning on her heel so she was facing the boy once more.
"what are you—uh—doing here?" he took off his headphones, leaning over and clicking a few buttons on his pc.
"i—just wanted to see if we could talk—but i thought you might've been streaming or something—i really didn't mean to interrupt y—"
"i was on the phone with some friends—my mum would've let you know if—if i was streaming" he stuttered, his eyes flickered between hers and the floor.
"o—oh! well good to know" she looked around the room and the decor, anything to avoid eye contact.
"so um—talk about what exactly?" he scratched the back of his neck.
"uh—just like us—and stuff" stevie could feel her heart beating in her ears. "i guess i wanted to say sorry for just disappearing on you the way i did"
"thanks" he mumbled, fiddling with the strings on his joggers.
"i know i messed up, and there's no excuse but i need you to know that i've missed you more than anything in the world and i don't wanna be weird anymore—i just wanna go back to normal where we're setting fucking fires in your backyard and spraying each other with the garden hose in the freezing cold" she opened her mouth slightly, determined to hold back her tears, which only made tommy's heart ache more.
he felt conflicted staring at the girl that left him behind, he wanted the same thing, but they both knew they'd grown from the little kids they were back then.
"sorry—i know that was a lot, i can go—"
"no don't" he jolted up from his seat almost instantly, grabbing her hand and holding onto it tightly. "i miss you too, like all the time—i feel like fucking everything reminds me of you—it's dumb"
stevie pulled him into a rough hug, holding onto him so tight—fearing that if she left him go she'd go back to missing him so much it hurt, "it's not dumb, i feel exactly the same—and it drives me insane because i know it was so long ago"
"it feels like yesterday" he leant his head on hers as his words began to flow so easily. "i—i need you to know i didn't mean what i said back in your room"
"i—i know, it's okay," she felt a small weight lifted off of her shoulders, although thinking of it still stung a little.
"it's not though—and i'm forever gonna be sorry because it wasn't okay for me to say, no matter what i was feeling" he hugged her even tighter.
"thank you—it means a lot for you to say that" a soft sigh of relief parted from her lips.
"i'm glad your back, stev—stephanie" he broke from the hug, gripping her shoulders.
"you know i how much i hate stephanie" she shook her head as her cheeks flushed at the use of her full name.
"stevie" he corrected. "i'm really fucking glad you're back, stevie"
"same" she pulled him back in for another hug, letting him rock her back and forth slightly. tommy honestly thought he could've stayed there for hours as they just held each other tightly. partly because they missed each other dearly and partly to overcompensate for the looming fear that no matter how dearly they missed each other they'd never get back to the way they were in 2014.
"so" the boy's mother coughed, causing them to break from their hug abruptly. "stevie honey, you're welcome to stay if you'd like to watch tv in the lounge room and order a pizza, just like you two always used to"
stevie looked at tommy to gage his thoughts, just to see him nodding at her with a smile of encouragement, his cheeks flushed now knowing his mother could've possibly heard the whole ordeal.
"uh—yeah that would be really nice, belle" she nodded, quite embarrassed as she came to the same revelation as tommy.
"great! i'll leave you to it" she didn't even try to hide her extreme excitement, running off to no doubt inform penelope weissman of their breakthrough.
"yeah nevermind—i missed her way more than you" stevie teased as they walked down that same fresh new corridor.
"you and everyone else" he pouted before challenging her, "now first one to the lounge picks the movie!"
"don't make bets you can't win" she laughed softly as she shoved him and ran. he just watched her as his heart fluttered. his stevie was home, and things were finally starting resembling that of the past.
