When I See You Again

As she sat atop her throne I couldn't help thinking how tired I must've been. I didn't even notice that I fell asleep, let alone even drifted into her world, yet here I was.

"So how have you been? I was watching your fight and I must say, very impressive holding out as long as you did. You used his environment and kept pushing without fail. Congrats."

As much as she could congratulate me, I didn't feel worthy of any praise. Sure I may have survived, but I got beat up more than I could imagine. The power to manipulate swords like that was something else, and having the lack of experience against sword fighters like I did made it even worse.

"Well, what do you want? I have a big event tomorrow and I'd like my rest before then."

"Silly, that's what I'm here to discuss with you. Of course, I can't reveal WHAT it is but all I will say are two things. Don't be surprised when you act out of your own will tomorrow, joining the Sins, even if it's not by choice, gives partial control over you to Tenshi and those he shares it with. And lastly" she jumps down and walks around me as if inspecting me.

"You're going to have to confront your regrets. So I wish you the best of luck and how you handle that determines your status as a Sin. I'd LOVE for you to fully convert, however, is that what you want?"

And with one last skip and lick of her lollipop, she fizzled into the air, leaving me staring at the ceiling. What the hell was that all about? Interrupts my sleep for two little things. Whatever. Laying there, sleep eventually takes over as I drift into nothingness.

Before I could hear the knocking of the door or the noise of people working, the sun poured through the windows and into my eyes, instantly waking me up. I almost fall out of bed when I try getting up, but I eventually make it outside where I'm greeted by Ken, who's leaning against the wall.

"Come on, we're not going out till night so let's train again. This time on technique rather than combat."

Thank God he said technique because I don't know if I'd be able to handle another serious fight like that. As we get our food and head to the training room the travel is quiet. It's not like we didn't try talking, but every time we would try to, it would be quick conversations and then nothing. We finally made it downstairs and started going over Gears. He began teaching me that the more advanced fighters don't have to call out

"Gear Shift: Zero!" And instead, they can just think about it.

"Gears are brought about with the power of words, but if the power of your thoughts are strong enough to where they're on par with words then saying the phrase is meaningless. With that, you'll be able to switch easily between Gears without giving your opponent any indication of what you're doing. This requires serious training and mental fortitude, both of which take-"

My hand's flare up, electricity crackling around them in response to my thoughts.

"How did you perfect it so fast?! That takes days of training and even then it's extremely difficult."

"Well playing football, especially defense, requires mental strength and just being smart in general, so I'm used to it. Besides, this isn't as hard as you make it out to be" alternating between both my Gears simultaneously.

We continue to go over Gear techniques late into the day until finally, Rage is waiting at the door for us.

"It's time. Gather your things, we're heading out."

Ken grabbed his sword and I grabbed my coat and we headed outside. The air was chilly and the sky was lit up with street lights, but I had no time to complain as they seemed to be always one step ahead of me as we made our way through the streets. As we made our way through the city, running through the sidewalk, I realized that I had no clue why we were even out. Thinking back to what the original Sin said, I didn't want to believe it at first, but she might've been right. I do seem to just follow without ever questioning why or how.
