-Jenny's POV-
I looked at myself through the mirror and immediately frowned. This was defiantly not the way I imagined celebrating by twentith birthday. I thought as soon as I turned eighteen I would be out of my mom's house and living in California. But no, here I am still in Doncaster and still in my mom's house. It may sound horrible to think this, but at least I'm not alone on the whole crushed dreams thing.
My best-friends, Josh and Savannah are still here. In fact, we planned this together, that we all would leave this rainy hell hole and go to the sunny side of the world. We grew up together and lived on the same street. Although I'm the only one on the same street now. Savannah and Josh's parents moved away a year ago. It's only ten minutes away but it's not the same.
"Jenny! Oh my gosh!" Savannah came bursting into my room, breaking me from my thoughts. "You look extra cute today. Is it a special holiday today?" She nudged my shoulder, teasing me. I rolled my eyes and nudged her back. "If so, I do have an amazing gift that I think is good for this occasion." She pulled out a gift bag and handed it to me.
I opened the bag slowly to annoy her and to my luck, it worked. She snatched the bag back and took all the paper out like a wild animal. I could only laugh and take the present out. Two gifts cards, one for Sephora and one for Mac. Everyone knows about my extreme love for makeup. "You're the best!" I tackled her into a hug causing us both to fall down.
"DOG PILE!" A familiar voice screamed and jumped on us. Yup, this had to be Josh. Savannah and I groaned in pain, trying to push him off of us. He finally got off and just stared at Savannah and I. "What? C'mon you guys can't be that fragile! Well at least not you Jenny." He said and helped us up. It was true, Savannah was really fragile and I could handle pain.
"Leave me alone!" Savannah smacked Josh, only to hurt herself. We all laughed but that laughter came to an end when another voice spoke. It was a voice that the three of us grew to hate over the years.
"Did I miss the dog pile again?" He said. Josh and I remained quiet as Savannah ushered to hug him. Only letting an awkward silence fill the room and an unsettling tension rose.
"Yea sucks for you." Josh replied, walking out making sure to bump into the unwanted voice's shoulder. I just stared at him, still in shock. Three years away and he looks even better than before. Savannah finally released him. First of all, what the actual fuck.
"Um... am I missing something here?" I finally spoke.
"Baby, why don't you go downstairs and let Jenny and I talk." Savannah told Louis. He awkwardly left the room and as soon as he did I slapped her. "What's your problem?!"
"Sooo not cool, Savannah! My ex shows up on MY birthday and then you kiss MY ex in front of me. You could've at least told me you and him had a thing! We're suppose to best-friends. I'm not even mad you guys are dating just mad at the fact no one told me he was coming or that you guys have a thing!"
"I'm sorry, I swear I didn't know he was coming! I didn't even expect us to have a thing. I was so scared to tell you." She pulled me into a hug.
"It's whatever. Just next time tell me." I backed away and sighed. I was now officially the single one of the group.
