*Unknown*

My husband got a good job today. I was more then happy that my shifts at this bar didn't mean life or death for my children, but I couldn't stop working either.

My entire life became a blur. Day was melting into day, all a repeat of the same. Sometimes something different would happen, like that girl that was being abused by that boy a while ago. But it was all the same. Nothing ever changed in this life.

But maybe I didn't deserve it to get better. My children did though, and so did my lovely husband. So here I was in this little cafe/restaurant, keeping my mask in place as usual, waiting, hoping, that some opportunity was going to arise and change my life.

Today was no different than yesterday, and yesterday was no different than the day before that. Just a few costumers here and there, some rude, some kind, some uncaring.

Until lunch. That's when something happened that doesn't usually happen. A group of 4 girls came inside, all smiling and joking around. Nothing special at first glance, but I did a double take when I saw the girl that was being abused among them.

I stopped in my tracks. She changed so much since the last time I saw her. Her once skinny and fragile body, was now well built and filled out. Her hair was fuller, and she wasn't wearing any make up, and that was because I realized she didn't need to cover up any scares.

The other three girls were joking around with her, laughing and, well, I could see they were friends. One of the girls, a blonde one, grabbed the abused girls hand, I'm pretty sure her name was Kelly if I remembered correctly, and pulled her to a table for four. The other 2 ladies followed, and they all sat down.

One of my colleagues Bella, went to take their order, but I gave her a sign that I'd take this one. Bella shrugged, happy to have less work. I walked to the group of girls and smiled. Only this time, it was only part mask.

"How can I help you ladies?" I said to them, and they all gave me their full attention. Kelly noticed me immediately, and jumped out of her chair. I almost took a step back in alarm when she hugged me. I froze, but having a single clue what I was supposed to do with a hug.

"Thank you," She said quietly, and I hugged her back, a full smile on my face. My life might be a shitshow, but at least I'd helped her.

She let me go, I nodded at her and she sat back down. The other girls didn't question it, and didn't look confused, so they must know what happened between us. Otherwise, they must be used to Kelly doing things like this.

"May I take your order?" I asked, and they gave me their orders. 4 Burgers and 2 fries to share. Easy enough. I wasn't going to mess this order up.

About half an 40 minutes later, the girls had finished eating. I gave them their bill and they left, smiling while talking small talk to me. I respond the way it was socially accurate to respond and smiled through it all.

When they left I went to collect their bill, which they had payed in cash, and I realized they left way too much money. Like way, way, way, too much. I blinked at all the money, and then saw the note underneath it. I grabbed the note, and read it,

Thank you for saving my life. Keep the change for yourself. Lots of love from Kelly, Lilith, Charlie, Silvia. *ps. The food was amazing!-Charlie.

I quickly grabbed the money and stuffed the huge tip in my pocket with the note, then calmly went back to the bar. I did what I had to do, and then went to the staff bathroom. I grabbed the money from my pocket and counted how much it was, heart racing, frantically doing the math.

When I counted all of it, I read the note again, then completely broke down. It had been years the last time that I'd cried, and now I was full on breaking down. I didn't even care if anyone heard my sobs.

They had left me one thousand dollars.

*Kelly*

It felt weird going back to the cage where I started living with Lilith. Like such a long time ago. But it was still nice.

The woman who had saved me that day looked the same as back then, and I mean like exactly the same. It was good to see her again, and it hopefully wouldn't be the last.

I asked Lilith if it was alright to spent some of her money, and she was completely fine with it. The three of them were crazy for trusting me to give a literal stranger one thousand dollars, but I appreciated it all the same. Here was to me hoping she wasn't an alcoholic or a drug addict...

We were back home from school for the day, yes really school. We collectively decided to go back to school and get our education while we still could. We were planning on going world traveling for a few years after we graduated, and to be completely honest, I can't wait. School sucks ass.

Lilith and I had told the other two officially about our relationship, and they obviously already knew. I mean, we didn't exactly keep it a secret or anything. We talked relationships for a while, and Charlie told us that she was asexual.

We all love and support her, and made her some cake. I'm pretty sure Charlie cared move about eating the cake then what we thought about who she was, and wow that was such goals. We'd all looked at Silvia, and as it turns out, she's the only straight one of the group. She told us she doesn't mind, so that was that.

Everything was going well. Everything was doing better. Everything was alright again in the world. We were all happy. And that's all that really matters to us.

Our life wasn't bad at all anymore.

I fucking loved it.
