12 years later:
Sirius POV:
Black household

It has been 12 years or so since I left London. It's just been me and Astra in our new house. We moved out of the cottage a couple years back. There were just too many memories. I raised Astra on my own. I never dated, I didn't want to add someone else into the mix of grieving and healing and raising. Besides, Astra doesn't need anyone trying to be her mom. I remember I once asked her if she wanted another parent and she answered with these exact words "I don't need anyone other than you. Why do we need another person to ruin the good life we have?" And I could never have been more proud that I was the only one she needed.

Astra went to a muggle school until 2 years ago when she got a letter from Beauxbatons. I sent her there for first and second year until she got herself expelled. She really is her fathers daughter. She had been accepted to Hogwarts this year and I was a little weary. We moved to France for a while when she went to school but now we had to move back.

I had just finished ordering some Chinese when I hear someone enter the house through the fireplace. I immediately got my wand out and called for Astra as quietly as I could as to not attract any attention into the kitchen. She comes down with her wand ready.

"Dad, who is it?" She whispers so quietly I could barely hear her.

"I don't know but be careful and keep your wand up," I answer.

I step out first, with her behind me and go into the living room to find someone I never thought I'd see in my house.

"Minnie?"

"Ah, Mr. Black. I hope it is alright I came, I just didn't know how to reach you, you don't have an owl. Ahh, this must be Astra I presume? I'm your future teacher. Now, Mr. Black, may we have a talk?"

"Um, yes of course. You can take a seat, Astra, could you get the cupcakes?" I say, sitting across from her. A few minutes later Astra comes in with the cupcakes we bought.

"Thank you sweetheart," I say, taking a cupcake. "So, Minnie. What brings you here?" I ask.

"Well, Mr. Black I am right to assume you heard the news?"

"About Peter? Yeah, I heard," I say, anger evident in my voice.

"And I'm sure you would like to keep an eye on Astra, correct?"

"Well, yes. But, where is this going?"

"Well, it seems we are in need of a new Astronomy teacher. And I know how much you loved the stars as a student, so I thought you might like an excuse to keep an eye on Astra," she answers. I'm stunned for a couple of seconds. Me a professor?

"Mr. Black? What do you say?"

"Oh dad, say yes, say yes. It will be so fun if you go. And you can make sure I don't get in trouble. Please?" This time it's Astra talking. She gives me the puppy eyes. She knows I can't say no to them.

"Oh alright. I'll take the job," I say after a few seconds, admitting defeat.

"Yes!" Astra said, pumping her fists.

"Very well, I will inform the headmaster and I would like it if you would come to the castle early before the feast."

"Yeah, I'll be there," I answer.

"Good, I will see you then. See you soon Ms. Black."

And with that she entered the fireplace and left like she was never here.

When she left Astra immediately ran up to me and hugged my torso.

"Dad, this'll be epic! Now we can see each other every day. Now I won't have to miss you so much," she says, her voice muffled in my chest.
