don't know what to call it
"Why is a random fat guy sitting in our living room?"
Ji-eun glared at you in response, adding a slap for good measure. If looks could kill, you would've been a goner. Lucky for you, the squeals from the little girl next to you gained your wife's attention.
"Santa!" She shouted, eagerly running into to the sofa, where the unknown man sat. "Hi, I'm Seo-yun."
Without warning, your daughter sat herself down on his lap, grinning up at Santa. Before you could open your mouth to once again question who the figure was, Ji-eun grasped at your arm. Her narrowed eyes silenced you, and she leaned closer to you.
"It's my dad, calm down."
Automatically, your eyes widened and you snuck in a polite bow. "Annyeonghaseyo," you whispered to your father-in-law, who gave a polite head nod in response. But he was rather occupied by Seo-yun, who was animatedly asking what the reindeer ate and if they were bothered by the cold.
You chuckled at her actions, and you wondered where she got all that energy from. A tug on your sleeve caused you to face Ji-eun, who gestured for you to follow her. Flashing one last smile at the small girl, you let your wife guide you into the kitchen.
"Red or white?" She asked you, going towards your wine stash.
Your brow raised. "Isn't it a little early for drinking?" Nonetheless, you stepped around your wife and pulled out two glasses.
Ji-eun shook her head at you and made the decision for both of you. She poured out the red liquid, and you couldn't help but notice that it was the exact same shade as her lipstick. As this realization hit you, your wife giggled.
"Stop staring, babe," she said with a smile, going around the counter to return the bottle to its proper place.
"Is it a crime to have a beautiful wife?"
In response, she leaned forward with a smile, and you automatically followed suit. The cold marble hit your exposed elbows, but the fire in Ji-eun's eyes filled your body with warmth. She surged forward and pressed a hard kiss against your lips.
She pulled back just as quick, grinning at you. "Guess I need to be arrested too." A choked out gag was heard from behind you, making both of you turn towards the sound.
Jong-hoon stood in the doorway of your kitchen, with disgust written all over his face. Your eyes widened at the sight of your brother-in-law. Yet, he ignored your blatant surprise and walked over to the fridge.
"Ji-eun, since when was he here?"
"Long enough to hear your greasy comments," he retorted. "Noona, you don't have maek-ju?"
Your wife rolled her eyes at his use of 'Konglish,' and pushed him to the side. Reaching past last night's leftovers, she pulled out a beer bottle. Jong-hoon's mouth made an 'o' shape, and he gratefully accepted the beverage.
He twisted off the cap, and you watched as he turned towards the garbage can. "Kobe!" The small piece of metal clinked as it successfully landed at the bottom of the bin, making Jong-hoon grin.
"Aigoo, look at you," your wife chastized, shoving past him to stand by your side. "You went to a US university, and now you think you're an American."
Jong-hoon glared back at her, ready to fire back a retort. Standing up, you stood in between the two siblings, arms crossed over your chest. As you glared at them, they both sighed before simultaneously sitting down at the counter.
"Shouldn't you be taking my side?" Your wife argued.
"Babe, we're literally speaking English."
She rolled her eyes and mumbled something about betrayal. Before either of the siblings could start up another argument, the voices in the other room caught your attention. The three of you locked eyes and immediately ran over to the window that overlooked the living room.
Seo-yun was giggling excitedly, with her grandfather bouncing her up and down. "So, you want a puppy?" Your father-in-law's voice filled the entire house, and suddenly all the pieces of the puzzle were coming together.
"You trickster," you hissed, turning to your wife. "You planned all this, just so you could find out what our daughter wanted for Christmas?"
Shamelessly, Ji-eun nodded. "It's a win-win. Seo-yun gets to see Santa, and we get to be great parents who give her an amazing gift." At her rationale, you couldn't help but agree.
"I guess we're getting a dog."
Your wife grinned at your statement, relieved that you finally understood where she was coming from. You wrapped your arm around her waist, and her hip bumped against yours. She smiled at you, before placing her lips square against yours.
"Ugh, can you stop being so gross?" Jong-hoon begged as he threw a hand over his eyes. "I'm gonna puke."
Pulling away briefly, Ji-eun gestured behind her. "Throw up in the bathroom." And with that, she grabbed the collar of your shirt and pulled you in for another kiss.
"Why are you guys like this?" He groaned, retreating to the living room.
"It's called being married, look it up!"
