It was early evening in NYC and the sun is beginning to set, I sat at the cafe I was currently in secretly studying my powers I have gotten months earlier after touching the tesseract, it was a mysterious thing to me but no doubt beautiful and powerful, I am thankful that it broke me out of HYDRA's control because if it didn't, HYDRA would have it in their hands and a even more powerful assassin in the process, the world would be in serious danger if it didn't. As I was studying my newfound powers I heard someone call out "All right everyone, hands up in the air where I can see them" I then turned around to see a masked guy with a gun intending on robbing the shop and I rolled my eyes and thought 'Who seriously robs a coffee shop? Idiot' and decided not to do so as you have no intention of having anyone telling you what to do, no matter what situation you find yourself in.
The man ignored you as he set his intentions on the barista which caused you to narrow your eyes if only slightly as you grasp the hilt of your sword which you currently had in your possession before appearing behind him.
As soon as you appear behind him you stab him right through his chest and tell him "Tell the devil that I say hello" before you take the blade out. Once you take the blade out from his chest, his body slumped on the floor, dead which caused you to sigh in satisfaction and think to yourself 'another day, another criminal taken care of' and you look around before handing the barista some money for his troubles before teleporting away.
Several days went by and it was soon time for the 2010 Stark Expo which you were somewhat excited for as this was your first time going out on such a big event since breaking free from HYDRA's control, as you earned money from working at the Daily Bugle to buy a ticket, but the only thing that you didn't like about the expo this year is that Justin Hammer was going to help host the event and you had a feeling that things are going to go wrong because of him as you knew that he was easy to manipulate as he was a weak willed individual but you decided to push the feeling aside from now as this was going to be your first time going to such a big event, but to be sure you brought your sword along in case something bad happens.
A few hours went by and you were at the Stark Expo, looking around, checking stuff out, waiting for the main event to begin, as you were looking around you say something, no someone that caught your eye, a red headed woman wearing a black dress, you saw the woman and thought
'she looks familiar, way too familiar, wait she's, she's the black widow. If she is here I better keep my distance because I can't have her knowing that I'm the Cosmic Knight or she will rat me out to SHIELD' and you start to make it to the back of the expo so that she won't notice you.
The night finally began when the stage finally lit up with Hammer Advanced Weapon Systems, filling the screens up while playing the introduction music. Once the audience settled down, Hammer started his introduction speech "Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Thanks for coming. Ladies and gentlemen, for far too long this country has had to place its brave men and women in harm's way, but then Iron Man arrived" then he paused before adding
"We thought the days of losing lives were behind us. It also seems... We have a local vigilante that is known as the Cosmic Knight named that I believe was inspired by Iron Man, to save lives as well"
Upon hearing those words I visibly perked up at hearing that unknowing that a certain spy was watching. Then he continued "But sadly Stark's technology was kept outreach. And who knows what the so-called Cosmic Knight's true intentions are, that's not fair and that's not right, just too bad"
Upon hearing that Hammer gained traction while Y/N just frowned and thought 'My intention is help the people out with crime when I'm out being the Cosmic Knight, or killing HYDRA agents who I can get my hands on' Then Hammer continued saying "Regardless, it was an impressive innovation that grabbed headlines from all over... But today my friends, the press is faced with a different problem. They are about to run out of ink" Hammer then smiled prompting the crowd to clap and caused Y/N to listen closely wondering what Hammer had in store. Then two workers got up on the stage taking away the podium as Hammer put his hands to the side
"Ladies and gentlemen, today I present to you... The new face of the United States Military! The Hammer Drone!" He announced which caused Y/N to roll his eyes and silently scoff.
"Army!" Hammer cried out which he followed with "Navy!" and Hammer began to cheer out for his own creation "Yeah! Yeah! WOO!" and added "Let me tell ya, it's a hell lot better than some cheerleaders" At that comment I couldn't help but smirk despite not liking the man.
"Today, I am proud to present to you... The very first prototype, the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit... And it's pilot, Air Force Colonel James Rhodes!"
Then the front of the stage opened to reveal War Machine slowly rising into view while the music blared.
As soon as I saw War Machine my eyes were ready to pop out of my skull and exclaimed "THAT"S LIKE A DAMN WALKING TANK, HOLY SHIT!" and the crowd cheered upon seeing the War Machine in all of his glory which caused him to salute to the audience. Hammer then said "For America and its allies, Hammer Industries rep-" And he was soon cut off as he was distracted by the sound of a machine flying into the expo and revealing it to be the invincible Iron Man himself. Upon his arrival, Hammer tried to get the attention on him but it was of no use since Stark's presence shadowed over his own. Y/N then heard gunfire which brought the end of his musings and then his eyes widened and thought 'There are innocents here and if anyone dies...' Y/N then took cover and quickly changed into his Vigilante attire and charged at three Hammer drones with his sword in his hands and quickly sliced the three in half before they could harm any nearby civilians and quickly moved to decapitate two more drones before stabbing another.
The fight continued on and Y/N was still slicing through drones like butter before he has all drones downed in the area, he went to a place where there was still some drones left over and sliced them down too before he noticed a drone aiming its weapon at a kid with a Iron Man mask on and teleported to the area and stabbed it before it can shoot the kid and I looked over to him and nodded
"Great job on the distraction, kid" And made my way elsewhere.
As soon as I finished on the last drone I looked back at the destroyed bodies and found that they were all gone and then thought 'So it is finished' and then made my way back at home
Two months has passed since the event at Stark Expo and I was now looking for a HYDRA operative that a anonymous source gave me and was now creeping my in the dark building and thought
'So, where is he, the guy said he would be here' and I soon found myself in a dark room and then the lights turned on and I heard a voice call out from behind me
"Y/N L/N, I am Agent Phil Coulson of SHIELD" and I turned towards him and said
"So you must have been the source that gave me that information" which earned me a nod in response
"I'd like to ask for your help" and I quickly responded and asked
"Why?" and he gave me a file and I looked inside it and I saw a document that said, The Avengers Initiative, stating that I was one of the candidates which currently had my name, Dr. Bruce Banner or otherwise known as the hulk when he is angry, Clint Barton whose codename is the Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Natasha Romanoff aka the Black Widow. I then saw another file stating that SHIELD would like me to join them after seeing my skill set after fighting the Hammer Drones at the Stark Expo and me fighting Bullseye with my fellow Vigilante, the Daredevil. I raised my eyebrow at him and asked
"You want me to join SHIELD"
"Yes" was the quick reply that came from Agent Coulson and I thought to myself, 'This might be beneficial for me as I could get a better chance at fighting HYDRA and I could receive some new upgrades for my suits as well
"Okay, I'm in, where do I start?"
AND FINISHED, Sorry for not writing I was very busy over the last week so I apologize but anyways I hoped you enjoyed the chapter and lets get on with the next
