The roar of engines filled the crowded street. Each alley way was being used as a temporary parking spot for the expensive powerful cars that accompanied the street racing events. Some people muttled around appreciating the cars while others simply gawked as the drivers reved their engines and girls flaunted bronzed legs.

Thea stood with the guys on the street corner in the midst of the chaos. She had lost sight of Lottie who had went off to find her target.

She breathed in the smell of exhaust and closed her eyes.

"You've been to a race before?"

She peeked out at Trevor from beneath long lashes and shrugged, "Once or twice."

People around them began to shout and cheer. Thea glanced around for the source of the excitement.

Her eyes fell onto the sleek royal purple car the peeled down the road. The onlookers flooded the street in front of the car, causing it to slow as it pushed its way through the cheering crowd.

"Indy's here."

Thea ignored the purple car, her eyes immediatly flicking to the car rounding the corner in the opposite direction.

Others around her saw the car too, and the crowd split. Half stayed crowded around Indy's car, while the others raced towards the newest arrival.

Riddick's car was the same as it had always been. Chrimson paint accented with white rims and dark windows. It's compacted figure contrasted Indy's large car, however Thea knew never to be fooled by appearances.

The only thing that mattered was under the hood.

Both cars pulled forward until they were only seperated by a few dozen fans. Each opponent pushed their way out of their cars and through the swarm of people.

Riddick rested on the the hood of his car, leaning nonchantly onto it as Indy approached.

Trevore inhaled sharply beside her, "Indy's a girl?"

Thea laughed.

Indy, now standing a foot in front of Riddick, narrowed her eyes at her opponent. She placed a set of elegant hands on her thin waist and jut out her hip, making her short leather skirt edge ever so closely upwards.

The two began to bicker back and forth, the same trash talk all racers partook in before a major race. Indy and Riddick's exchange wasn't entirely for show. The two were notorious for their rivalry after a close race in which Indy lost her most prized car.

A referee emerged from the crowd.

There was an exchange of words that Thea couldn't hear from her position. Then the driver's shook hands, cast another menacing glance at each other, and retreated into their vehicles.

Riddick turned to open the door to his car, his eyes skimming the crowd. Thea's breath caught when his eyes landed on hers. An arrogant grin grew on his face and he winked at her, then disappeared into the vehicle.

"What was that?" Trevor turned to her, "You know him?"

Thea shifted, her eyes never leaving the tinted windows.

"We were in the same gang." She said simply.

James eyes narrowed at the opaque glass that Thea's eyes were fixed on, but he remained silent.

They stood and watched as both cars revved their engines, pulling up side by side. The crowd cleared from the street, making the sidewalks and alleys even more crowded. All eyes were fixed on the two vehicles, exhaust pouring into the night air.
