It is nighttime, and it is continuously raining. The road is empty with only street lights lighting the roads. Due to the bad weather, everyone is inside their homes. On the completely empty streets, only a young girl is seen running on the road. She’s cursing herself, her luck and the circumstances. She didn’t know, she’ll be stuck in such a situation. Whilst running, she reaches the station and goes straight to the ticket counter and asks about the train to Michigan. The lady at the counter replies politely that the last train to Michigan has just left.

She sighs deeply and at the same time, a masculine voice attracts her attention. A young lad, almost 6 feet tall, is standing beside her, conversing with the lady. He’s asking for any other train but the lady denies it. She tells them that they will get the next train to Michigan at 6:30 AM in the morning. Both of them sigh deeply and as they turn away, they accidentally collide with each other.

“Huh! Dekh ke nahi chal sakte kya?” The girl shouts at the guy.

“Hey! You could also see!” He snaps at her.

“Ugh! You were the one to collide with me, and now,  you’re yelling at me only! Woah!”  She glares at him.

“Look Miss, I’m least interested in you. Go, find your own way!” He says to her and they move in the opposite direction.

They make their way into the waiting room and luckily, there were fewer passengers, so forth, they got the place to sit. As they settle, he looks at her.

“You mustn’t be sitting here.” He comments.

“Hey! You concentrate on yourself. Do not ogle at me.” She snaps angrily at him.

“Hey! Don’t take me wrong, I’m just concerned. Itni raat ko tum akele yahan!” He says, and he looks concerned.

“ You don’t need to worry, Mister. I can take care of myself.” SHe glares at him and he falls silent.

He begins to say something else but she shushes him and asks him to sleep. He shrugs his shoulders and lies down on an empty bench. Well, there are no empty hotels and they have to sleep here in the waiting room.

She sighs deeply and assuring that the guy is asleep, she dials a number on her phone.

“Yep! Got him! Awaiting the others.”

“I hope it won’t be tough.”

“Yeah I know! Yet, I don’t understand why am I chosen? He’s so irritating!”

“Yeah fine! I won’t lose my cool! But, please be a call away! I won’t be able to do it without you, buddy!”

She giggles at something the caller says and then ends the call. She sighs deeply. She takes her seat on the bench and keeps her phone in her handbag. She rests her head on the wall and closes her eyes.

Only a little time must have passed by when a commotion breaks her trance. She opens her eyes and finds a young guy and a girl entering the waiting room. She checks her wrist watch, it is just 5 AM. Oh, she slept for two long hours. With a shriek, she looks at the newcomers who seem to argue.

“I shouldn’t have trusted you. I missed my train because of you. Tumhari wajah se mujhe yahan car mein aana pada! And that route! Huh!” The girl shouted at the guy who seems una affected.

“Hey! I’m talking to you. Are you even listening?”  She yells at the guy.

“ I gave you a choice, madame. You wanted to come with me. Thank me, that I got you here safely.”  He says, almost shouting at the young girl.

“ So, you didn’t do anything extraordinary, Mister. Anyone would have done it!” She replies carelessly.

“ Ah! Anyone! Then please ask her!” The guy points toward her while the other girl is taken aback.

“No strangers like to help. I did, at least thank me for that.” The other guy says and sits on an empty bench.

The other girl begins to retort, when the first one shushes them.

“Can’t you two keep quiet? What is their argue about?”  She asks.

“Hey, he started. And now, he’s not listening to me.” The  other girl says.

“I’m not with her! So please don’t rebuke me.”  Another guy looks at her intently.

“ You’re doing everything to rebuke me, Mister. I won’t spare you.”  The girl snaps at the guy.

“Shut your mouths, you two! This is not your house that you’re fighting like cats and dogs! Have some shame! People are looking at you, be them fewer.” The first lady shouts and the other two fall silent.

“Please, Give me some peace! Stop fighting. Go, ask on the counter whichever train you want. But do not fight.” She warns them and sits back on the seat.

The other two sit quietly while the guy also wakes up amidst all the noise. He takes a look at the other three and sighs. He glances at his companion from last night and says that they should take the ticket as it’s just half-hour left for the train to come. She agrees and the two move out, while the other guy and the girl follow their lead.

The first girl looks irked but she lets them come when they say that they’re going to Michigan only.

A journey has just started.
