“Vince!”
Vince slowly approached Ryan. He eyed the trail of blood at his feet up to the dimming red glow in the latter’s chest. He asked,“The mighty Javeken is finally awake, isn’t he?”
Ryan couldn’t answer him. He’s been Ryan all his life. But did the entity inside him define his true self?
“I don’t know.”
“Do you know why we captured you? We got orders to kidnap you and your friends and awaken the being inside you. With Javeken released, we only have 2 more to go.”
Anger surges through Ryan’s body. “You will not touch my friends. I won’t let you.” He pushed Vince to the wall and aimed a clenched fist at his left jaw. Vince merely cocked his head to one side to dodge the weak blow. What the heck? Where’s Javeken?
Vince smiled, shoving Ryan to the ground. “The after affects of the possesion are showing. The demon can’t control your body for long periods of time.” Ryan heard him say as his limbs grew heavy. “We’ll meet again very soon Ryan. I hope your attitude has improved by then.” Those words echoed in his mind as he gradually lost consciousness.
It played like a movie inside Ryan’s head. His senses immediately perked when he observed Misaki and Hector heading towards a Ferris wheel. He could recognize that place anywhere, because it was the same amusement park he’d always went to as a child. No time to weep, as they were smiling happily at each other while approaching a long line. They chatted among themselves about topics Ryan couldn’t quite make out, something he grew quite jealous about. It continued throughout the bustling night until the pair reached the platform to the ride. A woman wearing a uniform collected their tickets and led them into a Ferris wheel cart marked with a bold number six. The couple hopped inside, squirming in excitement. The operator reciprocated their bubbly attitude, telling them to have fun… And suddenly she turned around to face Ryan and told him, “Save them.”
A droplet of rain fell on Ryan and his eyelids fluttered open. The moon was shyly peaking under the clouds that were casted in the night sky, suppressing the light to a minimum. He propped himself up on one arm, another holding his head, confusion and a headache overtaking his brain. “Seriously, what are these visions I keep having…,” he groaned. “‘Save them?’ Who, Hector and Misaki?” Ryan let out a lazy yawn, stretching his arms when his dreams flashed back to him. “Shoot! Hector and Misaki!!!”
Ryan ran out of the alley. He quickly hauled a taxi, heading to the amusement park.
After Ryan handed the driver a crinkled $20 from his pocket, he stumbled out of the yellow car. I can’t believe this is actually happening, Ryan thought, combing his fingers through his mussed hair while running on the trail leading to the Ferris wheel. Wait, what time is it now? He rolled up his sleeves to read his wristwatch and cursed that the display read 11:59 P.M.
He sprinted left towards the entrance platform of the ride. He was out of breath, but he couldn’t give up knowing that his dream, or nightmare, might come true. He’d arrived just in time when Hector and Misaki were entering the cart. Ryan slowed down and started walking towards their ride, when he noticed the operator whisper something to them, and pull the cart doors shut.
“NO! Stop, wait for me!” Ryan shouted, trying to fight his way through the crowd.
“Ryan?” Misaki pokes her head out of the cart that was already a few feet in the air. She spots him instantly and starts waving. “What are you doing here?”
“Get off the ride!” Ryan shouts, but the cart is far away and his words get drowned by the wind.
“I can’t hear you! I’ll talk to you when the ride ends!” Misaki shouts back before pulling her head back inside the cart.
Ryan watched the cart very closely from the ground, his eyes never leaving the glowing number six. When their cart slowly reached the top of the Ferris wheel, the whole ride halted with a deafening screech. This is just like my dream. If i don’t do something fast, then Vince will get to Hector and Misaki. He searched for a way to save his friends while making sure to scan the crowd for signs of Vince or his henchmen, but discovering no one out of the ordinary. So he arched his neck upwards to check back at the cart, and all of a sudden he noticed there were glowing figures hovering over it.
Without warning, one of the figures expanded. Their hand started to glow an orange hue. Ryan squinted at the light, and made out that its hand was on fire. Oh no. Ryan only had a moment to think before the figure launched the fireball at the center of the Ferris wheel, setting the entire structure ablaze.
