Lovely Princess
"Loen!!!" a girl wearing a school uniform called her friend with a smile. "I finished reading Lovely Princess!"
The boy named Loen gave a lopsided smirk. "Hah. Took you long enough, Mizuki."
Mizuki puffed her cheeks cutely and glared at him. "Oh, shut up!"
"But seriously though," another boy chimed in. "How could you go with your life without even hearing about this book? It's all over the internet!"
"You shut up too, Ricardo!"
Ricardo ignored her. "You know, I've heared some rumors that they will make a live action adaptation-"
"NOOOOO! THEY'RE GONNA RUIN IT!" Loen fake cried.
"Uh? Why do you care so much?" Mizuki asked.
"It's his favorite book." Ricardo answered.
Mizuki frowned. She didn't like seeing Loen sad. Nobody did. The guy was basically the one who gives their class serotonin. So, in attempt to make him feel better, she changed the topic. "By the way, who's your favorite character?"
Loen's head perked up and answered with a grin. "Jeanette, of course!"
The girl sighed. "Generic..."
"Hey! You can't deny how cute she is!!"
In an attempt to stop the bickering, Ricardo answered. "I, personally quite like Felix."
"Oh yeah! Felix is pretty nice!" Mizuki's eyes sparkled. "My personal favorite is Ijekiel! He's so dreamy..."
Loen scoffed. "And you're calling me generic..."
"Hey!-"
"Though I can't disagree. Ijekiel is an amazing character too." he shrugged.
"Hmm... What do you guys think about Athanasia?" the girl asked. "I think she's really pitiful."
Loen shrugged. "I don't really care for her. Like, obviously I feel bad but I can't really care much about a character who had five chapters of screen time. She was only a tool to drive the plot forward. Besides, her design is pretty boring, save for her eyes being jeweled of course."
Ricardo nodded. "I agree. Her dresses were also very plain and forgettable. I understand that the author wanted to make her look abandoned but like, seriously! She's a princess for God's sake, she would at least dress well, at least at her Débutante."
Mizuki's mouth hung open for a few seconds before she muttered. "You guys are so mean..."
"One thing for sure-" Loen yawned. "-nobody likes Claude."
"Period." Mizuki agreed.
"His personality sucks and his design is generic." Ricardo added.
"Yup. Like, if the author was trying to make me like him by giving him a tragic backstory then they failed miserably." Loen sighed. "Man... I wish Jeanette stayed in the Alpheus household... Nothing good could come out from living with such a man."
"And I also wish she didn't marry Ijekiel. Like, I understand they were not related by blood but they grew up together! They're basically step siblings!" Mizuki complained.
Loen chuckled. "Sweet home Alabama!"
"They're also second cousins." Ricardo sighed.
"Wait, what?"
"Mhm. Roger and Penelope were cousins, making Jeanette and Ijekiel second cousins."
"Ewwww!" Mizuki stickied out her tongue in disgust, making the two boys laugh.
"Anyway-" Ricardo started. "-Give me the book back. My sister will kill me if I don't return it to her."
"Oh yeah sure!" Mizuki then reached inside her backpack to look for the book, but after three minutes of searching she mumbled under her breath. "Fuck."
"What is it?" Loen arched an eyebrow.
"I think I forgot at the Cafe I went to yesterday. D-D-don't worry though! I can talk to the girl who worked there! She's my friend. She probably kept it safe with her."
"Ugh seriously?" Ricardo sighed. "How about we go to that Cafe today to get it together? It's been a while since the last time we hung out outside the school." he suggested.
Loen's eyes sparkled. "Yes, yes! Let's do just that!"
"It's settled then!" Mizuki smiled.
After the school day ended, the three friends took off to the Cafe Mizuki talked about. But the owner told them that Mizuki's friend didn't come to work today.
"Uughhh what are we gonna do about the book now?" Mizuki whined. "She's not picking up her phone either!"
Ricardo knitted his eyebrows. "I wonder if she's okay..."
"Hmmm.. Do you know where she lives, Mizu?" Loen asked.
"Yup. It's a few streets ahead. Should we go?"
"Why not?" Loen shrugged.
The three waited with a bunch of other people on the side of the road to be able to cross it. After a few minutes, they were able to.
While they were crossing the road, a loud horn was heared. Everyone hurried to get out of the speeding bus, but obviously, not everyone made it.
Lying in a pool of blood were a few people, and three of those people were the three, lively highschoolers.
One of the three, Loen, opened his eyes weakly. His head hurt so much like it was about to explode, and there was a deafening ringing in his ears.
His vision was blurry, but he could recognize the bodies beside him. Their condition looked horrible, their whole bodies were soaked in blood. But he hoped that they were still alive, that someone will save them.
With that thought, the light in his eyes began to fade. And soon, he was engulfed in cold darkness.
