I finished school with a smile on my face. No Chris, no glares, sneers, or gay jokes for the past three days. Maybe I'd piss off Chris more often, so he could be suspended again. It was heaven without him around.

Walking outside, I sat on the bench in front of the school to wait for Titus. We were going to spend the weekend together, and I was excited to be with him for the next couple of days. I took out my notebook and started to draw. I sketched a few things around me. Most of the people waiting for their rides home were gone. Taking out my phone, I checked the time. Titus was fifteen minutes late. It wasn't uncommon if the mountains had a snowstorm recently. After sending him a text, I set my phone on the bench beside me and continued to draw.

After rechecking the time, I sighed. He wasn't even texting me back. Xavier probably had him out doing chores or something. I sent another text asking if he was still coming or if I needed to call my mom.

I mindlessly doodled a bit more before putting away my sketchbook. I sat there holding my phone, waiting for a reply. Titus was probably on the highway and couldn't respond. Once he reached a stop sign, he'd answer me.

I sank into my seat. Half an hour had passed. If I had worn snow boots, I would have walked home. Xavier must have his son extremely busy, or Titus just forgot. That wasn't like him, though. The man followed me around like a puppy, desperate for attention. He hid it better now than when we first started dating, but to forget me? Grabbing my phone, I called my mother.

"Hello."

"Hey, Mom, I can't get a hold of Titus."

"You're still at school?"

"Yeah, can you come and get me? He must have forgotten."

"That's very unlike him." She grew quiet for a second. "Maybe call Xavier and see what's keeping him. I'll grab my keys and be on my way."

"'kay." I hung up and called the pack phone.

The first time, no one answered. It was normal. The phone was really used. I called a second time, and again, no one answered. I tried a third time, hoping someone would finally hear it ringing. Still no answer. Once more, I dialed the number. Someone picked up on the third ring.

"What's going on, princess?" said Darius casually.

"Hmm..." I said, unimpressed. "Where's your brother at?"

"I don't know. He left a while ago to pick you up."

"I texted him, but he didn't reply. I've been sitting here for over half an hour waiting."

"Oh, so this is a lover's quarrel," he chuckled. "Well, if I see him, I'll let him know you're waiting patiently for him."

"My mom is coming to pick me up, so tell him to go to the house."

"Where he'll be properly reprimanded by his sub."

"Darius!" I snapped. "You are so annoying. You're the worst part about marrying Titus."

"Damn, Aden," he muttered with amusement still in his voice. "Harsh much?"

"Just let Titus know, please," I sighed.

"Will do."

I hung up and rubbed my forehead. I didn't know if I could take living in the same cave as that man. I was going to miss my only-child status when I gained a new brother-in-law.

Pressing on Titus's name, I tried calling him. No answer as expected. I tried three more times and still nothing. Leaning back in my seat, I tapped my phone on my leg. He was starting to worry me.
