Autumn Leaves on Campus

After a long day of classes, you open your umbrella and rest on a nearby bench. The sky is gray, devoid of an inch of color, and rain falls all around you. 'tap-tap' go the droplets hitting your umbrella. You look around, watching your classmates scurry around the campus. Some holding umbrellas, some running as to not get wet, some talking underneath shelter while waiting for their rides.

You look at the trees that lost their leaves in the center of campus, backdropped by the orange and red of those who've yet to lose them just yet. It was all tied together nicely by the gray sky which resembled a blank canvas for the rest of the world to be painted on with a masterful hand.

You open your messenger bag and pull out an old book you bought recently. Shielded by your umbrella, you put it on your lap, and turn to page one. "In the year 1878 I took my degree of Doctor of Medicine of the University of London," you read while listening to the rain.

As you read more and more time passes. Eventually, you look up and notice that it's getting late. The grey sky turning black, and the moon beginning to shine through clouds. With the rain starting to slow down, you put your book into your bag, stand up, and start the walk back home.
