Chan's POV

Another day passed by and today was another lecture-free day for Professor Choi. Today was a Friday. I kind off wanted to look around the facilities but that was off the day's plan.

He adamantly brought me to the playground. Which, contrary to my fearful woes, was just stranded in seamless isolation.

I sat down on a nearby bench. Taking in the sight of the play structure. Vibrantly coloured metal poles with a few ropes and wooden parts to it. A Classical childhood. Where you met familiar faces at different levels and areas.

"If you're wondering why we're here," Professor Choi faced me, "I do volunteer work at Navillera Kindergarten." Pointing out the clearly RGB coloured sign board with a rainbow on it with the place's name. It was a decently sized building as well and had a simple gate.

Professor Choi looked joyful. Taking out his hand in the process.

"Let's go."

"Professor-nim," A gigantic man greeted us at the door. He wore a simple shirt under a green jacket with a pair of jeans. Simple. But 'Professor-nim'? Does he go to Pledis?

"Mingyu, I told you to just call me Seungcheol-ssi outside of class."

"Ah, sorry about that."

"It's fine."

Brushing aside the pleasantries Professor Choi started once more, "Please introduce yourselves to each other." Gesturing to me just behind the Professor and vice versa.

"Kim Mingyu but just call me Mingyu."

"Lee Jung Chan but Chan is just fine."

Kim Mingyu... Kim... Sojung... Are they related?

"Mingyu-ssi, are you perhaps related to Kim Sojung-nim?"

"Kim Sojung-nim?" He seemed to be raking at his brain before he replied with, "Ah, we're not. I've seen her around the building though."

So they aren't related. That's a bit disappointing. They do give off the same vibes.

Entering inside a hallway, the booming noise levels of cries, screaming, and occasional shouting, greeted us. The echoes from nearly every part of the small building maanged to creep into my ear. The range of squeaking reminds me of that one time I went to the playground a decade ago. '엄마!' and '아빠!' flooded in from my memory. How unnerving.  But this is a kindergarten. It's supposed to be like that. The pastel yellow, green, and blue painted walls were calming though.

"Mingyu!" A lighter yet kind of sweet tone called out. "It's nap time for them. Can you bring them upstairs?" The voice was a bit faint, maybe they were taking care of one of the kids?

"Okay!" Mingyu whisper yelled back to the person.

"Everyone!" He drawled out. "Let's go upstairs. It's nap time!" A kid emerged from one of the rooms and slowly walked towards him. Laughing in between.

A touch. Small arms curled around my legs. Oh no. No no no no no no no—

More giggling happened.

"Siyeon... that's not how you treat guests," Mingyu told the child at my foot off. "Be nice."

Siyeon pulled out some more laughter and still hugged my leg.

Why... why hasn't Scribe killed her? She couldn't possibly have an ability. Right? Ability users aren't easy to find.

Troublesome. I can't check my phone either. That would be too rude. So if Scribe isn't attacking then.

Heaving up the child into my arms. She giggled again. "Uncle is small!" She screamed out loud.

I wonder how old she is.

Professor Choi smiled at the situation placed upon me. A stiffled chuckle was subtly heard. Maybe he liked the kids here. It seems a lot like the Professor.

_ _ _ _ _

If you're wondering what's with the random inclusion of literal korean. It felt off to make it romaji. There are things I avoid purely because I don't find them nice. And they exist because saying Mommy and Daddy sound off to me.

Next chapter update will probably be next week. I've already planned the ending.

Attacca was nice Crush, Pang, 2 minus 1 and Rock with You are my current faves on the track. Kep1er lineup is a bit iffy to me but hopefully the members will be alright.

Have a nice time!
