Chan's POV
For the rest of the week, Professor Choi was free of lectures. And for once, the day felt... typical. For once, I felt like I've gotten my life together. But it's not.
"Everything will come after you, Chan. Everything will."
The heavily pigmented navy blue became less intense as I stared up. Street lights brightened the sidewalks. Bodies with jackets passed by infrequently. It was the start of the night.
Walks are a typical day of piling thoughts is always nice. But a destination would always be the best thing. Glistening within the street lights—take the bus. The bus was moving to the stop as well, with my card close in hand. My body hops on board the surprisingly vacant bus.
Maybe this was a less populated spot. Good for me then.
The river here is simply a popular spot that's desolate in the moonlight. The lack of life along with the constant thrashing of water... reminds me of complete peace. Although slightly reminiscent of the time before, it's still not like back then.
There isn't much to talk about anymore. Everything is going much smoother than my first day here and consecutively my second one as well. There would only be 2 more days left before I'm... I'm...
"What happens afterwards?"
What happens after these 7 days of surveillance is something I don't know.
Will I have to work at HYBE? Like Jeonghan-hyung and Shua-hyung do? But what would I do? It's not like Scribe is useful for anything but killing people. I doubt HYBE allows it's workers to kill every mission.
Maybe looking over the edge of the railing at the water will give some ideas. But obviously, my reflection just appeared along with my jacket that made my bare face bea-barely distinguishable. Cracking jokes isn't my thing is it?
Nothing feels right. Or wrong either.
Maybe...
Zzzz! Zzzz!
Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.
Picking up the phone, "Scribe, I've told you repeatedly." Mom started with a low grumble that increased as the call went on. It was past midnight and only the streetlights made anything visible in the vast darkness that engulfed the night.
Unlocking my phone, and tapping into the contacts app. The name that I never changed since then. Clicking on the green phone and the buzzing ensued.
Ringing... #####
Would Scribe respond?
POP!
Pushing the phone against my ear. This is the first time I'm doing it. My whole body feels colder than the temperature here.
"Hello... Lee. Jung. Chan~"
_ _ _ _ _
Um... we're about to finish this book soon, so whoever is reading this... wowzies! thanks for reading! I hope to expand on this au some day. I do realise this chapter is much shorter than the previous ones at around 400 words, but don't worry! This will continue into December at the time of writing this. :D
For this time's recommendation. Check out Twenty Twenty if you like barely 30 minute per episode shows which are free on youtube! Apparently some sites list it as a A-Teen spin off? Which it could be but regardless, it's a nice watch which hopefully I'll finish. :)
Have a nice day!
