Chapter 3

My alarm went off, it must be 8am. Time to get ready for my shift at the pet shop. I don't need a job (especially with the amount of money Bonten brings home) but I love spending time with my friends.

I get up and I notice Mikey isn't in bed. He probably stayed up all night again. I get dressed and leave the bedroom. I see Mikey in in the kitchen. "Good morning" I say to him and kiss him on his cheek. He doesn't say anything. He's still pretty beat up from yesterday.

"So, are you going to tell me what happened last night?" I ask. He doesn't say anything. "Hello? Mikey?" I say and still no reply. "Whatever don't talk to me. Fine. I'm leaving for work" I say, now both annoyed and mad and start walking away. "Goodbye, Manjiro" I say and slam the door.

The whole time I walk to work I can't help but cry. I miss him, I miss the old Mikey. The isn't the same person I feel in love with all those years ago.

Flashback

It's been 2 weeks since bloody halloween. Mikey and I are in his bedroom watching old home movies of us at the dojo when we were little. "Oh my god! Look at how small he was" I say pointing to the 5 year old Baji on the screen. "Haha yeah! And look at big bro in the corner laughing at the both of us!" Mikey says laughing.

Watching these videos are so bittersweet. We all look so happy and everyone is alive.

"I miss him you know? Both of them. There's no way I'll ever forget them" I say to Mikey, tearing up a little. Mikey and I understand each other more than anyone right now. Mikey and I have lost the same people.

Mikey puts his arm around me, trying to comfort me and it's working. "I know...I know... it's okay to cry y/n, I'm here for you. I will always be here for you" he says. "Thank you Mikey" I say.

I stop crying and look up at him. We are both staring into each other's eyes. I leaned in and kissed him. After a few seconds I realized what I've done and jump back. "S-Sorry Mikey, I don't know where that came from" I say.

"Don't apologize, do you know how long I've waiting to do that?" he says. I give him a confused look. "The day I saw you when we were so little.... I got a crush on you instantly.... I was too young to understand what my feelings were but by the time we were 11 I was certain how I felt about you. But by then Baji and you started dating and so I thought all hope was gone" he says.

"Oh so Mikey has a little crush on me huh?" I say teasing him. "Oh shut up, you're the one who kissed me" he says lightly shoving me. "Keep shoving me and see how many kisses you get from now on" I say pretending to be mad at him. "Whatever" he says this time pulling me into his lap. We kiss one more time and the rest was history....

The Present

That day was so special to me. I would do anything to have that Mikey back.

I've finally made it to the pet shop and I see Chifuyu stocking shelves. "Hey, good morning y/n" he says giving me a soft smile. "Good morning 'Fuyu" I say putting my bag away.

"Hey you look upset, are you okay?" he asks. "Me? Oh I'm fine" I lie as I put on my apron. "Y/n you know you can talk to me right?" he says. "Yeah I know, but trust me, I'm truly okay" I say.

I hear the door open, it's Kazutora. "Hey guys" he says we he walks in. "Hey" I say and he starts helping out Chifuyu with stocking the shelves.

About an hour into our shift, a woman about our age walks in and looks around. I see her look at Kazutora and smile. Chifuyu notices as well and he walks over to me. "Did you see that?" he whispers and I nod. Right after that she walks up to Kazutora and asks him a question. Chifuyu and I quietly giggle.

She must have asked him where something is because he takes her to an aisle and shows her different options of cat food. She picks up a bag and walks up to the cash register and Kazutora goes behind it. "Okay your total is $9.57" he says and when she looks in her bag for the money, Kazutora gives Chifuyu and I an annoyed look because of us staring at him.

"Oh, do you need my number for anything?" the woman asks. I give Chifuyu a look and he gives me the same one back. "Oh my god, Kazutora's first girlfriend" I whisper. Then we hear Kazutora say "Oh no, we don't do rewards programs here" and Chifuyu and I face palm. "Oh.... okay thanks for the help" the woman says and she grabs her bag and receipt and leaves.

"What the hell 'Tora?!" Chifuyu says. "What?" he replies back. "She wanted to give you her number! She was totally interested in you!" I say shaking his arm. "No. Wait. Really?" he says. "Yes" I reply back rolling my eyes. "Seriously Kaz, we need to get you a date" Chifuyu says and we all start laughing. Poor guy has spent so many years in jail he doesn't even know when someone is basically throwing themselves at him.

After my shift I head over to Mitsuya's place because Hina is trying on her wedding dress today.

"Hey 'Kashi!" (a nickname I gave him when we were kids) I say. I see that he's measuring someone. I look over and see it's Takemichi. "Oh and hi Takemitchy" I say. "Hey y/n" they both say. "Hina is just behind that curtain" Mitsuya says and I walk over.

I go behind the curtain and see Yuzuha helping Hina put on the dress. "Wow, it's absolutely gorgeous" I say. "I know right?! Mitsuya did an amazing job!" Hina says excitedly. "Okay I'm done! Go look in the mirror" Yuzuha says smiling.

"Wow" the three of us say. We are speechless, the dress is so beautiful. Mitsuya is extremely talented. "I can't believe you're finally getting married. After all these years you deserve to have the wedding of your dreams" I say. "I know.... I've been waiting for this for a long time" says Hina.

Then all of a sudden I start tearing up. "Hey what's wrong?" Yuzuha asks me and her and Hina both hug me. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to start crying.... It's just because all of this.... It makes me miss Mikey" I say as I'm wiping away my tears. "I'm sorry y/n, I know you loved him very much" says Hina who also looks like she's about to cry. "Yeah y/n I used to think you and Mikey were gonna get married first" says Yuzuha frowning.

"Y/n you know he did what he did because he loves you and didn't want to hurt you anymore" says Hina. They believe that I haven't seen Mikey in 12 years, which isn't true. But my feelings are true because the Mikey I know today isn't the Mikey I fell in love with. The old Mikey is the one I miss, the one who I wanted to marry.
