Chapter 4

"Hades!" I say, smiling down at my phone.

Hades was my classmate in 7th grade. We were friends but not very close friends. We were in many group projects together, and like most of the girls in my class, I had the biggest crush on him. He moved away from our school in 8th grade. Since we weren't very close, I didn't have his number or social media, so we lost contact.

Just as I am about to reply, the doorbell rings. I get up to look through the peek hole to see if it's the delivery guy. After identifying him, I open the door. I take the order and tip him the change.

"Enjoy!" He says, smiling at me.

"Thank you. Have a nice day." I reply.

After closing the door and ensuring it's locked, I walk back to the kitchen to take my stuff from the bag. Not long after, Jessica walks out in pink shorts, a spaghetti strap, and her flip-flops that she wears inside.

"About time." She says, walking over to the food.

I look at her and nod.

"So, what are your plans for the rest of the day? Planning to stalk Profesor André and his wife?" She says, smirking.

"Cut it out, bro!" I reply before separating our stuff.

"Turn into a whole Joe from You!" She says, mocking me.
"Joe is crazy. There is no way in your right mind you can compare us." I reply.

She smiles and returns her attention to her food. I continue eating while scrolling through my phone. As soon as I bite into the second taco, my phone pings again, and I immediately check to see who it is. I smile as soon as I see Hades' username on my screen.

"Could I call you on video? I would love to catch up." The text reads.

  "Sure!" I reply.

Not long after, my phone starts ringing, and I answer. "Hey, Hades!"

  He smiles as soon as I pop up on his screen. Trying not to smile too much, I look away from him for a second.

  "Hey, Aniyah! Wow! You look more beautiful than I remember."

  "Thanks, Hades," I reply, trying hard not to blush too much.

  "So, how is the university going?"

  "I'm still new here, but it's going great. Things haven't started getting challenging yet." 

  "Oh well, I know you will fit in perfectly.

  "Yeah, we'll see. So what are you doing these days?" I ask out of curiosity.

"Well, I'm studying Computer Science in France. My parents moved here a while back."

  "France? That's where you moved to in 8th grade?"

"Yeah, my dad got his dream job here, so he decided to move and take us with him." He replies.

"Ooh, that's great! How is France, though. Do you like it there?" I reply.

"France is alright. It's cold, but I've gotten used to it." He answers.

  Jessica tilts her head to head what we are talking about

  "Who's that?" She asks with curiosity in her voice.

  I move the phone close to her so she can see.

  "Oh my gosh, Haden!?" She says.

   "Hi, Jen! How are you!?" He replies.
