"Everything."

Jeongin nearly choked on air at the answer, his eyes wandering along the water, trying to focus on the sparkles of the stars in it rather than the boy next to him.

"What d-do you even mean by that?", he cursed himself for stuttering, wanting to sound unbothered but clearly failing.

Chan chuckled, laying down on the grass.

Jeongin looked back at him, startled by the movement, and noticed that the older had closed his tired eyes.

He could look at him.

So he did.

His eyes followed the older's nose, landing on his lips in no time, his breathing heavy.

"You said I was perfect, well, I'm not. Not at all." He started. "I make a lot of mistakes, I can't even count them at this point, but if there is something I think I didn't get mistaken on was the 7 of you. I chose you with my heart, rather than my mind, and maybe that could be a mistake, but a good mistake. You know?"

Jeongin forced himself to speak, softly, not daring to ruin the tension that had installed again.

"Not quite sure what you mean."

Chan smiled, and the tugging of his lips made Jeongin's heart flutter.

"Mistakes are mistakes because they have bad endings, or that's how we usually think of them, but a mistake can also be something you simply were not supposed to do, or allowed to. Say, if the managers tell us we can't date before the dating ban, and we still do, that's a mistake, right?"

The younger thought about it for a while.

"Maybe."

"Why?"

"Because it can have a bad result, but if no one finds out..." he realized what the older was saying, and decided to pretend he did not get that he was right. "So you're telling me you broke the dating ban?"

Chan's eyes flew open.

"Wha- no! No, it was just a situation, I didn't- oh, you're messing with me." He slightly slapped Jeongin's smiling face and let his hand linger a bit there until Jeongin caught it between his.

"Sorry."

"What I meant is, I made a lot of mistakes, some of which were simply things I was not allowed or supposed to do, not necessarily wrong, but not supposed to. And the biggest one of them starts and ends in you, just like most of my life at this point."

The younger frowned, feeling his heart drop.

"I told Minho I'm a dead weight, he didn't believe me. I know it was a mistake to chose me, Hyung, I promise I'll do better-"

"You're not following me here, Innie.", the older sat up again, cupping the younger's face. "You're not a mistake. Choosing you and letting you be a part of this team will never be a mistake."

The younger felt a tear run down his face.

"Then what the hell was your mistake with me?"

Chan smiled softly, cleaning thats same tear and looking the youngest member right in his eyes.

"Letting you in that fast, that deep. Letting you be on my mind that much.", he caressed the younger's face and almost laughed at the confused face. "Letting you be as important as you are to me."

The younger choked on a few more tears.

Important?

Him?

There had to be some kind of mistake. He was not important to anyone.

"W-what?"

Chan pressed their foreheads together in a bold gesture, making the younger let out a trembled sigh.

He could feel the moon staring at them from up there, the stars whispering in his ear.

It's a mistake.

"It was a mistake falling for you, Yang Jeongin."

It was barely a whisper, but the younger caught every word, every feeling bottled up inside, and for the first time in ages, he felt like he mattered.

That was his moment, and he was living it.

It didn't simply resume to Chan liking him back, to the leader of their group actually having feelings for the boy.

It was more than that.

He matters to someone, he was the reason to something.

He let out another soft sob before the older finally closed the gap, not needing an answer to his confession.

Their lips met between sobs and gasps, the freezing night turning it even harder to breathe against each other's the tension both growing and dissipating.

Everything was confusing to the younger boy, he felt his body ascend, his mind drop, like his whole body had became unaware of itself as Chan kissed him, gently, softly, all the things he didn't have the courage to say translated into the short dance of their lips.

Jeongin understood then.

A mistake.

Loving Chan was a mistake. A mistake like any other, wether good or bad outcome.

A mistake was a mistake.

He had made a mistake.

And maybe some mistakes were okay.
