Chapter 2.
FOUR MONTHS LATER
My senior life in high school was hectic but fun. It had its ups and downs as well but I went through it fine. One day I hurried through the quadrangle squinting as a result of the blinding sunrays that came down upon me. I was cursing to myself thinking why I didn’t apply sun scream when I suddenly bumped into someone as well as getting something hit on my face. I opened my eyes and realised that it was a tall senior. SH*T I thought to myself, I looked down immediately and mumbled a small apology before taking off and running to my next class.
I sat down on my seat huffing and puffing startling ,my friend Yeri.
“What happened?”, asked Yeri.
“I accidently bumped into someone, pretty hard as well”, I sighed to Yeri.
“AGAIN?! KIM NANA you need to be more careful!! Oh….. (evil smile) By the way, was he hot????”, she asked mischievously.
“Erghhhh… I didn’t really notice, but ive gotta admit he was kinda tall”, I answered blushing in the process while also replaying the moment again.
My legal studies teacher comes into the classroom bearing a great big smile. He announces to the class that we are all getting back our test results back. Our whole class moans simultaneously, while Yeri nudges me nervously as the teacher came around handed out our paper. AS I got handed back my paper, the teacher congratulated me that I came second in the class but what shocked me even more was that my score was 79%. How did I come second I thought to myself. My score honestly wasn’t good, like I mean to even consider a score being good at 85% would be considered a “A” grade in everyone’s opinion right? However, the teacher answered my question when he announced that the average was 50% and that nearly everyone failed along with the highest score being 96%. Yeri and I look at each other when he said that because if I got second then that means the difference would be nearly 20% from 1st place to 2nd place. Carefully I looked through the paper and counted up the marks again making sure the teachers added it correctly (even if you were maths teacher, you can accidently add numbers wrong is what I have learnt through my 5 years of education. I realised that most of my marks lost was that I didn’t get full marks in my short answer questions and so collectively, I accumulated quite a bit lost marks. I decided that I needed to ask the teacher how I could improve so I told Yeri as well and motioned her to go to maths first.
I stayed back and waited for the other students to leave the class. Then I walked up to the teacher and told him my worries. He reassured me that it was alright to have scored in that range and that I had a lot of time to improve. But I guess he could sense my worry so he told me to meet him at lunch again to discuss further.
Yeri and I were lining up at the school canteen when a bunch of mannerless guys just pushed in front of us. Their bags were right smack bang on my face and I had no choice but to push it away. I noticed it was one of those typical sports bag that guys always carried around with them trying to look cool and swaggy. Yet, I saw a small chain dangling sown on the side partly because it hit me on the nose and as it looked quite familiar to me. I backtracked trying to think why it remained so familiar while Yeri who was getting really mad and shouted at the boys. I couldn’t seem to remember so I followed Yeri who managed to push back in to our rightful place leaving those boys scared as stray cats.
My stomach was practically growling by the time I go to order my lunch. So when I saw I didn’t have much too choose from in the canteen, I had to choose my second favourite dish in store which was a chicken mayo burger! After all the obstacles Yeri and I walked back to our group of friends and sat down to chill and eat. Our group was a pretty gossipy one we could get the latest info of other people’s love life in a second. It’s pretty amazing to be honest. Once someone gets info at my school it starts spreading like wildfire to the point where teachers probably no who’s with who. On second thought now… it’s ive gotta admit pretty scary. You definitely don’t want to be in my school if you want to keep your social or romantic life hidden.
When I finally finished my lunch I bid my goodbyes and left my group to find my legal teacher. Once I found him, I quietly waited by the door as he was talking intently to another student and I didn’t want to pry on other people’s business so I stayed at a comfortable distance away. The teacher probably had a really good peripheral vision as he waved at me to come in. I cautiously walked in wondering why the other male student was still in there.
“Ahhh Na Na, You came!’, he exclaimed.
“Yes”, I replied quietly wondering why he sounded so happy and why the other guy wasn’t leaving.
“Na Na say hi to your tutor Woo bin, he is going to help out with your legal work as well as other homework if you need him to”, my legal teacher said so happily.
He probably couldn’t be bothered to teach me himself which was why he deceded to get someone else to teach me. I shifted my eyes slowly to me to be tutor when I realised that he was wearing the exact same bag which had hit me earlier at the canteen.
“ It’s you the one who pushed into the canteen line!!”, I said angrily.
“More like the one who had run into me earlier at the quadrangle”, he replied smugly.
“What!”, I exclaimed slowly turning my full attention at him looking straight at his face.
I had I take a step back when I realised that he was strikingly tall and lean with a handsome face and eyes which complimented his whole body. I stuttered a bit while trying to process where I could have met this person before the canteen accident. Then it dawned me that he was right, he was the guy that I had accidently bumped into as I was running to class. He looked about the same height and had the same chain that had hit my head.
“errr…”, I stuttered with embarrassment as my cheeks flushed with a light pink.
