"Hey Ced, can I borrow- dude, you cannot be serious" Anthony sighed when he saw his friend sitting in his bed smoking. "What are you borrowing Anthony" Cedric asked removing the cigarette from his mouth "I'm afraid to borrow something that hasn't been washed in weeks" the boy scoffed

"Are you still mopping around. When are you going to get over her mate" "If you came here to disturb my peace, I suggest that you turn around and walk back the way you came" Cedric put his headphones back on and his friend removed them.

"No, it's been two months dude. We literally just left college and instead of searching for a job, you're here mopping over some girl who isn't even worth it" "Well what do you want me to do now" "Get off your sorry ass and do something with your life. Forget about about her" "It's not that easy Anthony" Cedric sighed getting off his bed

"I know it's not. You know what, let's go out. Me, you and Herbert. Just us, no girls and let's have fun" "I'll think about it, now can you please leave me in peace" "Okay, but I came to borrow your laptop, and don't worry, I won't read through your 'lyrical poems' as you call them" Anthony picked up the laptop that sat on his desk and left the room.

Cedric then picked up the unopened pack of cigarettes and plopped on his bed putting his headphones back in and drowned in the music and smell of smoke. The aroma that could have easily make him wheeze a few months ago was now the only thing he could breathe and the only thing he needed.

They say heartbreaks are the worst thing that a human being could go through. Feeling the cracks in your heart give way leading the entire structure built up on love to come crashing down. That's why it's better for it to be a mutual breakup, otherwise there is a possibility of someone being driven to the brink of insanity.

Cedric's first relationship with Leilani was everything he needed. She showed him the same amount of affection he showed her, she was respectful, she knew when to press and when to leave the issue. She was loved by his parents and his friends. She was kind in every way, she was beautiful, intelligent and so much more.

He never knew why she called him that morning, he never knew what he would witness when he went to confront her that night, he never knew how to react to what he would witness, he never knew the toll that that situation would have on him, he never knew how real the ordeal was until days later.

And with his own friend, the same friend who he helped when his parents were always in an argument, the same friend who he stayed awake for just to help him pass his final exams, the same friend who helped him plan all the dates he took her on, the same friend who was in a supposed relationship with someone who was a year below them.

He doesn't even want to think about the poor girl who he played, how she must have thought that he loved her with all his heart, only for her heart to suffer the same catastrophe that his did, but hers had more gravity than his. He never got to meet her but saw a picture or two of hers on his social media that depicted her as a soft person.

His routine ever since he fell into a state of depression was to wake up, have some breakfast, sit in his room to smoke, listen to music and try to compose a few poems while in that state of calmness. He even thought of drugs and alcohol, he's heard people talk about how it helps you feel numb but he started small with cigarettes since he was all new to this.

He missed her with every being of his existence, he missed her laugh, the way it would immediately change his mood as if someone just turned on the light in the room. He missed her smile, her touch that always sent sparks along his skin whenever he felt it. Her kisses that always seemed to make him forget any troubles he had and made her his centre of attention.
