A presence was made known to the young couple, (Y/n) and Sae-Byeok by the footsteps approaching of a decent human being that was Player 456.
"Hey, pickpocket. Are you okay? It looked like you and that thug really had it out for each other." Player 456 asked concerningly.
Both woman looked at his sceptically for his behaviour and proceeded to look as cold and intimidating as possible.
"So what?"
"I just wanted to see if you were alright, and if you wanted to join my team."
Sae-Byeok pulled her gaze from Player 456 and stared blankly at what was in front of her. "I don't trust people. And that's twice as true for anyone who'd end up in here. Got it?"
"You think that's how it works, huh? Listen, you don't trust people here because you can. You do it because you don't have anybody else."
His footsteps receded as he walked away. (Y/n) nudged her ex and gave her an encouraging look, knowing that it was better to be in a team than not in one at all.
Come dinner, everybody was summoned to grab their meal. An egg and a beverage. Nothing much, but it was the intent of such a small meal that would trigger the contestants to start a fight. To starve them, and they would become more unsettled.
The greediness of Deok-Su and his group caused a few to backlash. A feeble contestant whose luck had now run out charged towards Deok-Su and wrestled for his drink. Instead, the drink shattered in contact with the floor, stirring Deok-Su's anger. In reaction to losing his drink, he then lashed out at the weaker man and beat him to death.
Nothing could be done to save the man's life as such a cruel beating was sufficient enough to kill him almost immediately. It wasn't long after that everybody was ordered to go to bed. A forklift carried a coffin with a pink bow, the corpse put inside before it was taken away.
When everyone settled in their beds, people's fears were heightened. The countdown to curfew commenced, with only seconds before chaos would ensue.
Darkness filled the room. Beads of sweat ran off people's foreheads and along their backs as they waited to act in defence against the berserk minds of people that would wreak chaos and cause bloodshed.
Then, all hell broke loose.
In a panic, Sae-Byeok drew her pocket knife and stood still, watching for anybody to attack her directly. But while she was so focused on any forward attacks, she failed to comprehend her (Y/n) getting jumped by another player.
He had a quilt tightened in his hands which he threw around the black-haired woman's neck, granting Player 101 the chance to finish her off with the broken bottle after beating up and killing one of the weaker players who spoiled his drink.
(Y/n) then threw her feet up, kicking Player 101 in the chest as well as knocking the man who had the hold on her away. In desperation, she crawled through other people's beds, hoping that her Sae-Byeok would come to save her. In mad bloodlust, everybody murdered others as they could.
The flashing lights made things harder for people to see as Player 456's group managed to fight off any attackers. In relief, Player 456 spotted familiar faces run towards them, joining them as they defended themselves as they could. Sae-Byeok clung onto her ex, practically hugging her, hoping that nobody would take her from her.
It wasn't until the cries and the pleas of the old man coincidentally followed right before a group of armed red minions stormed the dormitory, causing everyone in the room to cease their fighting and raised their arms to surrender.
