Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS. They didn't coexist peacefully, monsters are far weaker than humans, both in physical combat and regarding the strength of their SOUL. This is because monsters are mostly made of magic, which in turn makes them attuned to their SOUL. The damage a monster receives from an attacker is dependent on the monster's will to fight and the attacker's will to hurt.

One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long battle, monsters who were fighting for their lands and equality, beginning to face defeat. Amidst despair, King Asgore agreed to sign a treaty, even if it was a one-sided deal. Monsters only get 1.5% of land on earth, and the whole part of the underground, located right beneath Mount Ebott.
Nice day today! The war ended pretty peacefully. I know that the peace treaty was one-sided and it gave more advantages for humans, but I can't let my race died out for something... impossible. There might be no winners in this battle, but monsters... Many of their species went extinct, with only little resources, they strive to survive. After a few years, the monsters succeeded to make a peaceful and prosperous enough kingdom for their whole race, they were all happy.

Our whole kingdom begins to flourish to greatness, the birth to our first prince was celebrated greatly throughout the land and underground. He was named ASRIEL.

Many improvements were added throughout their land, many areas in the underground were decorated with flowers and crystals, their main kingdom was centered in the deepest part of the underground. Many medium to small-sized kingdoms have their reign above the underground, more prone to occasional human attacks.
Little by little, humans started to forget everything about magic whilst monster tried their best to stabilize their condition.
But for some humans, they couldn't just stop and resist attacking any monster they encounter, they knew how monsters worked, they take all chances and any advantage they encounter... They'll grab it
WE DON'T REMEMBER HOW OUR ANCESTORS DID IT, BUT I DON'T THINK WE CAN FIGHT THOSE CREATURES AGAIN. MONSTERS ARE SCARY, AT LEAST THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT, THEY WON'T TRY TO FIGHT US AGAIN. THEY WON'T BE DETERMINED ENOUGH, WE'RE SURE ABOUT IT.
